  1. Burger King seem pretty determined to kill a lot of people here. First, they introduced a burger comprised purely of (lots of) plastic cheese, and now this gut-buster. ???? Not surprised diabetes and heart disease is off the charts everywhere.
  2. Hate is such an over-used verb, but things that annoy / alarm me; Mad drivers (with guns) April-May heat and humidity (although I normally leave for cooler climes during Thai Summer). Stinky food. Lack of specialized tradesmen; plumbers, electricians, etc. Income disparity.
  3. Living 5 minutes away from a lovely beach with body-temperature sea. Cheap domestic flights to anywhere in Thailand (or SE Asia). Affordable tuition for my son (music, Taekwondo, other sports). Loads of great restaurants and food outlets. Tons of eye-candy everywhere. ????
  4. The missus will definitely be attending. ???? Two of her favourite things combined; Pita and drinking. ????
  5. Nah. It's this platform of change and booting out the dinosaurs that struck such a massive chord with the population and electorate. He has to stick to his guns now, and good luck to him. He's going to need it.
  6. Not sure, tbh. Rayong's 'monsoon season' normally starts late, around September-October. Its a coastal province also, with mountains and a run-off into the sea, so flooding is not (normally) an issue here.
  7. Maybe shelf-life is an issue?
  8. Started raining heavily here (Rayong) around 9pm last night, and hasn't stopped since. Looks like I can escape gardening duties this weekend.
  9. Interesting. Do you have a link?
  10. The last thing Prayut and his cronies want is "calm". When they have protests and disruption, it's their chance to roll the tanks out again. A bunch of <deleted> dinosaurs that should have fallen into their appointed tar-pits decades ago.
  11. There is an "expat" shop near to us that sells a full caboodle of (UK) choccy delights; Penguin, Club biscuits, Fry's, Bournville, etc. Difficult to resist..
  12. Supply always a bit hit n miss with imported chocolate. Quite partial (I say I'm buying for the kid) to the occasional "Twix" snack bars myself.
  13. There is a local Thai brand, "Yolida" that makes cottage cheese "Alli" range. The Mom & Pop shop near to us (Banchang) sells it as well as their main product, pro-biotic natural yoghurt (450gms for 65 Baht). Yolida The normal milk supply here doesn't seem affected, so far. Maybe Pattaya is just feeling it first due to the large expat consumption.
  14. Basically, Myanmar with better roads.
  15. When you need an Orwellian / Monty Python titled "Ministry of Culture" headed by the scion of a mafiosi family, then you probably don't have any..
  16. Flowers, molluscs, and earthworms.? A few fish, maybe. And that's about it.
  17. Yep, just think about unelected unaccountable globalist bodies, like Bilderberg Group, Council on Foreign Relations, Trilateral Commission, WEF; UN; WHO; etc, etc.....
  18. You may be correct, but he won with an overwhelming election result. From a population utterly sick of inept and utterly corrupt military "government" rule over the last nine years. If Thais don't like him, they will vote him out again. In the meantime, the Thai population should maybe start mass protests and industrial strikes until he is appointed PM.
  19. Copies or fakes. The real Buck knives (made outside US under license) start at around 1,500THB (40 USD).
  20. Processed "cheese" is about 2 molecules away from being a drainpipe or bucket. And about as tasty.
  21. If you can't find a store in CM, buy online. Most good brands (Buck, Benchmade, CRT, etc) are available from Lazada, Shopee, and the like. Expect to pay 1,500THB+ for a decent robust lock-knife. The price is depending mainly on the blade alloy material, and not just build quality. A good knife should last a lifetime.
  22. Serious, professional criminal stuff. Might be indicative of the level of criminality the deceased was involved in.
  23. Same with gout for me. (Gout is a form of arthritis). Fixed for good without requiring any (sometimes toxic) meds at all.
