Phillipines Retirement Visa
Negita43 replied to Negita43's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
Thanks - yes been to Manilla once and understand - plus taxi drivers who won't use a meter (maybe understandable given the traffic). Re AAA... comments I find Thai Visa has a mix of helpful, informative, pedantic, opinionated, agressive etc etc people. I thank those that help and inform and try to ignore the rest. Thanks again -
Phillipines Retirement Visa
Negita43 replied to Negita43's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
1. So this visa is only for ex military? 2. You can stay 3 years on tourist visa? 3. Reason for looking at it - 180 days out of Thailand every year. 4. Although I believe not now commonly spoken in the Phillipines I can speak Spanish (and English) so I would feel comfortable language wise. 5. At this moment just looking at all options. -
Thanks VocalNeal - but is E10 higher (I have no idea about all these gradings)

My partner has a 10 year UK Visa obtained in 2015 she used it for trips to the UK/Europe for a few years then came Covid - for the last two years she has spent almost the full 180 days in the UK each year (using it also as a base to travel to Europe also). We have never had a problem at immigration although as some have said the whole area of what "time envelope" the 180 days is in is very murky. What amazes me is why UK Immigration would think an educated, financially independent, property owning Thai would want to live permenantly in the UK. My partner is Thai through and through and although she likes to travel she would not want to live anywhere but Thailand.

I have a very old but in very good condition Altis 1.6. It runs on 95 petrol - anyone have experience of running one on more modern octane ratings - is there an upgrade?

Does anyone have experience of applying for one and any useful links?

Yes that was what I was asking since taking money out of an ISA is completely tax free (and doesn't have to be reported to the tax authorities) so if I then send this to Thailand what is the status of that money since it's not taxable in the UK (and is it covered in the DTA agreement - I think not as I think ISAs came after the DTA agreement)
-
I did ask this q before but the thread is so big I cannot find it again to see if there were any opinions on it. In the UK citizens can put up to 20K each year in an ISA (this can be a cash ISA or stock and shares) - all income, profit and withdrawals are not subject to UK tax and indeed do not have to be declared on a tax return. Equally if you are out of the UK for a time abroad the ISAs you have can be retained but you cannot add more money during your period of absence. So does anyone have an opinion as to how this will fit in with the new rules effective Jan 1 2024

Thanks for the info But what about where they connect to the motor? I assume they have a + and a - terminal with leads out to the electric motor???? -

I have a question about EVs - most of the diagramatic pictures I see show the battery pack at floor level. With Thailand having a great propensity to flood might that be an issue?
