  1. Hi back in the fray after 187 days away. My Thai partner who loves to make pies, pizzas, sausages, bacon has decided to make bread - I prefer multi seeded - can anyone suggest wthe best place where the multiseeds for bread can be purchased.
  2. Actually I don't - it's my 800K savings account - but I do remit asset (money from stocks) to another Bank
  3. I am totally confused I just received this yesterday - the day after I arrived back from the UK - UK tax payer - after being out of the country for 180+ days. I have no idea if I have to complete it or not.
  4. Thanks About 3 years ago Colonoscopy was tried before in UK and aborted because of (apparently) the tight bends in the colon and risk of damage. Then I had a CT colonography which at the time showed only diverticulosis but now I need another
  5. Can't have a colonscopy anyone have an idea of cost of CT colonography in government hospital. Thanks
  6. So her last trip from UK to Schengen and return to the UK 15 days later triggers another 180 days permission to stay as a tourist?
  7. My partner has a 10 year tourist visa for the UK which gives here a 180 days entry. But does anyone understand how this is calculated - is it 180 days in any 360? For example she entered the UK in May 2024 and has exited and re-ntered the UK twice (Schengen visits totaling about 25 days) so if she completes 180 days before finally exiting does this mean she should not reurn until 1 year from entry date or exit date or something else? Thanks
  8. I am out of the Thailand at the moment and will have been out of the country for 180 plus days by the time I return. If I transfer money before I come back anyone have any idea of the position with regard to taxation?
  9. any idea about taxation for foreigners in the phillipines (compared to new ones in Thailand)
  10. Please could you explain further
  11. Nothing to do with Sainsbury but whatever happend to listening to arguements and then making up your own mind about something - rather than having made up your mind (usually based on a political belief) and looking for arguements to support them. Polarisation of opinion does not bode well for a constructive and peaceful society (or forum) Yes we have different opinions and yes politicians are econimical with the truth but it is what it is so lets work to put it right instead of the same old "blame game". I hear a lot if complaints not many alternative solutions.
  12. n the past 28 weeks up to 14 September, Sainsbury’s recorded a 3.7% increase in underlying retail profits, totalling £503 million. The supermarket has achieved significant market share gains, with grocery sales rising by 5% and a notable increase in their “Taste the Difference” range, up by 18%. Investment in perceived value, amounting to £1 billion, has been a crucial factor in attracting consumers to Sainsbury’s for larger shopping excursions. Sainsbury’s plans to expand further by opening up to 45 new stores, including recent acquisitions, to enhance their market presence.
  13. Maybe the only book you read is your bank book? 😊
  14. Couldn't agree more
  15. As Confuscious you surely must know this quote: "The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin. When all is orderly, he does not forget that disorder may come. Thus his person is not endangered, and his States and all their clans are preserved." What's here today maybe gone tomorrow - the same everywhere in the world.
  16. My understanding is that most "indians" in London are indeed English
  17. I think that was the point I was making by using the words "for me" I actually lived and worked in Spain for 10 years and I like Spain more than the UK (I have Spanish friends there who I visited in September) but living there permanently after Brexit means long term living in Spain with my Thai partner is not viable. I have to say your response to my post seems like you are trying to justify your decision to yourself as - you say everyone has to make their own decisons - I don't question yours merely say that such decisions are often complex for each individual.
  18. Best place in Spain for English Fish n Chips - Cuidad Quesada (Alicante Region)
  19. Returning to your home country because as you get older for medical reasons is an extremely complex decision. Some of us have long term relationships and for me I would rather die with my partner in Thailand than in some lonely place in the UK or Europe - Medical care, at least in the UK, is not that simple either - I need new knees - NHS around 3 years wait (after you pass the consultants "pain" test - private around 14K per knee - Thailand about 8K - For me I'll stay and if things get really bad I'll book a flight to Switzerland.
  20. Look on the bright side - you think you can get away with this in the UK or Europe (and many other things that are acceptable here that aren't in the UK or Europe - you pays your money and takes your choice
  21. Almost every country in the world (read the news) unless you want to go to Russia or China
  22. Thanks - can they do transitions and the various types of varifocal lens (different field of vision) I will look when I get back shortly (currently in the UK and have been badly let down by a UK supplier)
  23. Which is better - Tax or Health Education - obviously for the government Tax but for the population ?? Health education should start in primary schools and continue into adulthood.
  24. And yes that works both ways in my case as I get older
