TM30 after several hotel stays
KhunBENQ replied to scubascuba3's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Travelled domestically10 times during COVID times (any many more since 2011) to different hotels and never done TM30. No complaints at immigration/90 day report. First time was after border run to Laos and applying for Non-O at immigration. -
Friendhsip bridge Laos border run
KhunBENQ replied to webber4's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Possible since long. Did it in July 22. Can't comment on visa, I am visa exempt. At the time no checks for COVID vax. In the meantime there were reports that Laos checks vax. status. I am not up-to-date on that. -
Renewing 2 licenses at the same time.
KhunBENQ replied to Bert got kinky's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Last time must be a while ago. Rule has changed. Medical cert. for every new/renewal since maybe 3(?) years (could look it up). -
Renewing 2 licenses at the same time.
KhunBENQ replied to Bert got kinky's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
At our office (Khon Kaen province) always yes. I have book and pink card. Both with me and copies. From another post today: two original medical cert. needed. No copy (I had done only motorcycle license today) -
Thai bureaucraZy at it's best ????

That has changed by new rule. Maybe two or three years ago. Always needed (makes some sense).

Done. 11:30 at the doctor, certificate, 100 Baht. 12:00 walk in at DLT (no queue/appointment). Copies of passport, yellow book, pink card. Medical cert, old DL, eLearning QR printout. Told to come back 13:00(!). About 15 applicants for tests. Colorblindness Reaction Depth perception Picture taken 13:50 out with new DL. 255 Baht. That's how it works out here.

Mandatory? Maybe not but then you have sit at the office tutoring and watch age old videos in Thai?
-
It's the "DLT eLearning" where you register: https://www.dlt-elearning.com It consistent of four videos, two in Thai with subtitles and two in English. Although they are nothing but YouTube videos you have to watch them completely within that website. About one hour. A few questions popup at random times. A few clips from Australian and Canadian traffic offices are mixed in. Mostly some shocking stuff about accident victims. In the end a personal website link with the QR code opens. Print/save/bookmark on mobile. I just made it and today will try to apply at our DLT. Will report back.

Brilliant communication. No names, no useful hints except "have little money", "spread it" ???? Worse fear mongering is hardly possible. Keep it under the pillow?! I use online banking since ages even with a system before the internet banking came up via phone. And knock on wood not a single Deutschmark, Swiss Franc, Euro or Baht has ever gone for unknown reasons. Robbed by the biggest Swiss bank. Greedy speculators bailed out. Worse than money under the pillow.

"happy day" or "lucky day"? There was another poster who had a browser hijack virus on his device. Not sure whether yours is the same. In this case it's on you to fix.

Over 80,000 Israelis protest against Supreme Court reform
KhunBENQ replied to Scott's topic in World News
Do you have a quotable source for that? Just browsed through some stuff. Not much details found but a wording like "simple majority"? -
Of course proper hotels have to register you at immigration. But I never had complaints about not reporting back home with TM30.

Over 80,000 Israelis protest against Supreme Court reform
KhunBENQ replied to Scott's topic in World News
Yes, but in such a system it requires more than a wafer-thin majority to override basic/fundamental rights and/or constitution. Separation of powers is well proven concept for countries that call themselves democracies. And it's more and more hard to name Israel as the "only democracy in the middle east". -
Saturday Night Fever in Pattaya - What a disappointment
KhunBENQ replied to Mickeymaus's topic in Pattaya
Exactly that and just too high for all the rubbernecks populating the pavement. And WS is not THE center of open bars which you can checkout from the street. If you want to know what's going on you have to walk in to the high priced places where not so old ladies are found. Being in Pattaya for more than 15 years and being surprised how many old/fat/ugly women hang around beach road?? (and many of them on a business trip from wherever in the world, e.g. the lovelies from Turkmenistan and similar). -
Budget? Required features? The one I stayed with family some 8 years ago is "Sarita". https://goo.gl/maps/ocqpJjdf75qufLJR9 But currently seems fully booked.

I like to dictate E-Mails and letters
KhunBENQ replied to THAIPHUKET's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
I rarely speak to my notepad app on the phone. Just tried. Gboard set to "EN-DE", click microphone symbol. Saying "Hi how are you oder wie geht es" (second phrase is German). The result clearly shows me that no second language was recognized: "Hi how are you older we get this". And I simply wouldn't try it. -
Did 10 trips alone during COVID to Pattaya(10), Phuket(1) and Samui(1). Always stayed in hotels. Four different in Pattaya. At my preferred place in Pattaya receptionist always searches through the passport and notes data. Can't count how often I stayed in hotels in Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Khon Kaen and Udon Thani since 2011 before COVID.
