  1. I suggest as the first step to do the "e-learning". It's basically watching videos interrupted by some simple questions. Takes a bit over an hour at your desk. In the end you get a certificate with QR code. https://www.dlt-elearning.com/ It's far from being a theory test (50 multiple choice questions at the office). Saves you from tutoring/sit in at the office. Only physical tests done (eye/color and reaction). As we don't have any queues up here (just walk in) I can't tell whether it makes a difference about length of queue. If you don't have a long drive to Buriram(?) try your luck there (medical certificate always needed now and proof of residence).
  2. And of location of course. There is no "Thailand" tap water. Here in the village we use it for laundry, dishwashing, shower, sink incl. clean teeth. The water is not chlorinated. Dogs survive on it We don't drink it nor cook with it. And as far as I know none of the villagers does.
  3. Look for a good valve with a long handle. We have such and they can be easy adjusted.
  4. Thread about the same accident: https://aseannow.com/topic/1286710-two-electrical-workers-hurt-in-accident-on-route-331-in-pattaya-area/ But the photo in the Pattaya News shows that indeed they were working from a PEA truck/crane. Quite unprofessional. "Lucky" that they fell immediately otherwise they would not have survived.
  5. From the report it's not easy to understand what they actually did. The picture shows a high voltage pole with the three porcelain insulators unconnected. Did they work on these and accidentally touched free hanging high voltage lines? Quite likely contract workers. PEA is smart enough to switch off high voltage before doing any work on the poles.
  6. Seems this thread has gone unnoticed in the Laos forum. All i can tell is that at Nong Khai/Vientiane there is absolutely no requirement to stay overnight.
  7. You can't do much wrong with the WD disks. In professional statistics they come with very good reliability stats. Compare prices in major IT chain shops and consider to buy there. For comparison. In Germany the WD passport 5 TB is on sale for 110/115 Euro (~4200 Baht). So the price of 3590 Baht is not that suspiciously low.
  8. I hate to dampen your hopes. Reading and understanding would have saved you.
  9. As written in another thread my EUR (2k ~ 72k Baht) transfer from WISE account to Bangkok Bank took two days instead of one (Monday night to Wednesday afternoon). I got an email with an excuse but no reference to partner bank or the like. Maybe next time I try my Kasikorn account.
  10. Do a surprise video call (who does not have LINE?). If denied, forget it.
  11. This morning I got the promising mail: "...... THB is on its way to you. The money should be in the bank account by today, February 15. Sorry that took a little longer than expected. We needed more time to pay out your money." Started Monday evening. EUR from WISE account. One day later than usual.
  12. On a Sunday many shops in a rural district town are closed. Mainly small private shops with household goods, machinery etc. In our district town all the shops with farm equipment/machines are closed on a Sunday. But on the other hand, many shops seem closed for good (no signs, no nothing). Can't tell whether this is from the Covid nightmare or a general downturn of that area?
  13. No, as you see in the thread it's not fixed deposit. But there is complete different parallel system which we use for Singha drinking water (0.5l bottles) and Soda (0.4l bottles). You buy a full crate of 24 bottles at beverage shops (not chain stores/supermarkets) in return for the empty crate and bottles. Here a crate with 24 bottles of drinking water cost 60 Baht, with 24 bottles of Soda cost 145. Soda way cheaper than the one way smaller bottles. Many professionals (bars, restaurants) use this. BUT: initially you have to pay a "deposit" for the crate (xx? Baht) and bottles (5 Baht per bottle). Takes away all that pile up of plastic waste or boxes of glass bottles. Of course the system is not useful for the single condo resident on 30th floor Some shops provide delivery to the gate in their close vicinity. Don't ask me if a shop would buy back the empty goods (doubt it).
  14. I tried to understand the problem from the looking at the HTML source: But what's wrong here? \u0027 is seemingly unicode for the ' ?? It does not effect me in any way (copy/paste within the forum or to external editors). Or I simply don't get your problem?
  15. Yesterday evening about 9:30 PM (from WISE EUR account, purpose long stay in Thailand). And it was announced to arrive to day at 2:13 PM (as usual).
  16. First time I am a bit nervous as the transfer does not arrive as promised at Bangkok Bank. Should have credited shortly after 2 PM. The WISE website shows a strange "We are unable to give you an update at the moment." message and the transfer is still in "Sent" status. Also have not got the usual email updates about the transfer. Then used the help function and selected the transfer. See this: Not a big issue for me but of course I hate surprises with financials.
  17. Room safes differ in size. All I can tell that my 14" notebook fits in a half decent hotel safe. Taken so many pictures but never of the room safe Not the super primitive type with the wheel handle to open. Many Some room safes take up to 17" notebooks. Just checked one from a four star in Pattaya and 15" notebook/laptop would be the maximum. But really to be sure you would have to ask at the accommodation before booking.
  18. Hope they can soon provide a clue about the nature of these UFOs. Some people seem to get nervous and ask about UFO and extraterrestrial.
  19. From the Leistritz website: "What you get from Chonburi is turbine components at a premium level of output and quality. That's quite a statement when you count thousands of parts that make up a single aero engine." https://www.leistritz.com/en/start
  20. Seven days count from due date as day one. So you could read six days late. Weekends included in the count. So if due date is Monday, latest is Friday.
  21. I was thinking back and forth but it seems clear that you have to find a truck transport. I tried to find anything like a professional mover in Chiang Mai but like elsewhere it seems a rare species. Would you think your stuff fits in a single "cargo/delivery" pickup? For a privately organized transport you would need such a pickup, two drivers and give it two to three days door to door. It's almost 1000 miles (1600 km) so do some math about rental, fuel both ways, drivers payment and expenses.
  22. The guy with the glasses is the boss. #1 in police
  23. Police boss could opt for the diet meal.
