Travel UK to BKK Report
KhunBENQ replied to FARANG KIWI's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You snapped my question -
Angry birds at the ATM?
KhunBENQ replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
https://www.bulsuk.com/2012/05/angry-birds-gets-with-kasikorn-bank.html Completely silly. I am old fashioned and puzzled by banks doing such gimmicks. (my last Bangkok bank book had cartoon figures on the cover) -
I remember a prophet (was it Mr P.?) some months(!) ago that there will be no 2011 again. In 2011 they narrowly saved Suvarnabhumi from flooding with all powers available (while Don Mueang was a lake already).

I have seen decaf from BonCafe at our MAKRO. Near double the price of other Arabica. And one of the few things that has improved at Lotus's after the takeover is a wider choice of real coffee. Can swear I have seen at our small Lotus mall.

Seems BoT can't stop the Baht slide. One reason behind ? Even Euro increased.

Still showing. Hope they will have a good explanation for that.

Video: "Good Thai driving" makes up for bad motorcycle riding
KhunBENQ replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News Headlines
The video has sound and I am afraid he did nothing, neither honk (which he should have done!) nor break at first. I bet he realized that the bike would come over. And then? Being surprised that the bike slowed down? There is a U-turn! All U-turns are clearly announced with a sign. Complete sleepy and careless fool and not "good driving". -
Video: "Good Thai driving" makes up for bad motorcycle riding

About 11 sec into the video: About 14(!) sec into the video: If that is good driving, heaven help!!! -
Video: "Good Thai driving" makes up for bad motorcycle riding
KhunBENQ replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News Headlines
Absolute sleeper. And there is no good driving but just an emergency breaking resulting in loss of control. Nothing but luck that the other motorcycle rider was not thrown off. From between 10 and 11 sec into the video it was clear that the motorcycle rider would not stick to the left lane but cross. About 3 sec(!) later the pickup nearly hit the motorcycle. Amazing silence: I know it's "forbidden" to honk but here it would have been absolutely necessary!!! -
Quite a bit south on Jomtien beach rd. https://goo.gl/maps/SRVLRqcqhtZwRmc27 Do you know the T-section with Soi Bunkanchana (the traffic light)? 250 m further south. Have not frequented bars there. Only been there to see a member of the family clan working in the area selling coffee and things. Long given up, Covid killed the rest of the business. Very dependent on Russians. Lot of Cyrillic signs etc.

What is the current Government electricity rate for tenants?
KhunBENQ replied to spambot's topic in The Electrical Forum
As above. About 5 Baht now depending on consumption. 8 Baht is the usual way of hiding rental cost. Would not be surprised if they start to charge even more after the recent rise of government rate. -
transferring pics in gallery to new phone?
KhunBENQ replied to proton's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
Do you refer to filenames or date/time from the EXIF data in the files? I always do automatic renaming after copying pictures based on EXIF data. Of course if the time/date setting in the camera/phone was wrong this won't help (maybe in your case) -
Visa (VOA) stamp after Oct 1st
KhunBENQ replied to Oblomov's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Why should immigration not know their own rule? Just make sure that it is 45 days incl day of arrival and departure. And as ubonjoe writes: be more concerned about unknowing airline. Reference for airlines is IATA Timatic database. This site seems to allow query for passengers: https://skyteam.traveldoc.aero/ I just did an example: London - Bangkok, UK passport, no visa Depart Oct 7th, arrive Oct 8th Depart Nov 20th (21st would be the maximum if arrival date is considered). "You are clear to board this flight". (click on picture for full size) -
Visa (VOA) stamp after Oct 1st
KhunBENQ replied to Oblomov's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Ordinary tourist >visa< allowed 60 days. -
Pictures taken July 3rd 2022, at 18:34 and 18:38. 0.05 to 0.06 difference. That's 60 Baht for 1000 Dollars.
-
Well, if you call 0.03 to 0.05 per USD/EUR/GBP "way better" then yes. I would call it a tidbit better. Worth the walk if it's about significant amounts. Otherwise a small bottle of water for the walk will eat up the difference. But indeed on last visit no exchange beat Damini in Soi Post (13/2). I read that they are open 24/7. Didn't notice that.

Visa (VOA) stamp after Oct 1st
KhunBENQ replied to Oblomov's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
To my knowledge there is no 60 days permission for any national arriving visa exempt.
