  1. Already much improved although stronger winds seems to avoid Bangkok.
  2. It's stormy outside! Strong winds from the north east, And see the result: Cross your fingers the winds will make it all over.
  3. Is your home country license a single document combined for car and motorbike? In this case why should cost for translation double? I think you are being ripped off.
  4. If you have a valid IDP for car and motorcycle stamped then I doubt that a translation of your home country license is necessary. 8000 Baht, hell that's a nice pocket money. Two licenses at the office done on your own is 505( ?) Baht.
  5. With your plans there is no concern about safety. Violence against foreigners exist but in the majority of cases it's not arbitrary/ unprovoked. Often foreigners on drugs/alcohol. Some loose their temper when drunk. Not good. Drunkards are an easier task for robbing. Not so different from everywhere in the world. And that is what it makes to the news. Living 13 years in an upcountry village and never been threatened/physically attacked. Real concerns: Dangerous traffic. Don't get in a road rage! That can turn extremely violent. Your wife will know. Months long air pollution like now.
  6. They seem allowed and even work as seen in your post. Links to "non major" sites (no list known) are ripped to text by the forum SW. To me it's not clear what this brilliant piece has to do in Soapbox? Is she panicking after the election result??
  7. 370 km, 3800 Baht, good price.
  8. Max 3200 would be cheap. Tom Taxi is competitive and wants 3500 from Suv. to Ko Chang pier. That's 300 km.
  9. Absolutely. Not every city taxi (driver) will/can accept such tour unprepared.
  10. To Korat (Nakhon Ratchasima) city(?) it's roughly 250 km. On the route Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya it's about 10 Baht/km. As a ride to Korat will likely have no return trip you should expect more than that. Might add up to 4000 Baht. Try to contact this taxi service and ask whether they arrange such tour. https://www.tomtaxiservice.com/ (copy/paste link to browser, disabled in forum) city: just assuming. The province is big.
  11. That explains why I could download Windows installation file with ~800 Mbit/s. Highest ever seen for a download.
  12. Time for my first Gemini test. And the only meaningful content is: no info released yet 🙄 "Google has not yet released specific details about the power source for their new data center in Thailand. However, Google is committed to using renewable energy sources for its data centers, so it is likely that the Thailand data center will be powered by a mix of renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power."
  13. The data center project with PM involved is in the news since September. So this Davos thing is just a PR show. Important question for me: will Swiss cheese become cheaper 🤣
  14. When the winds come back and blow away the dirt all the plans and measures will be forgotten. Currently the whole subcontinent is close to no winds. The winds from the sea look like hitting a wall.
  15. Looked up yesterday and even deep south the air is all but healthy. The whole country is under a haze blanket.
  16. Yes and lets hope that such ideas will break through. But current politics in Germany celebrates huge battery farms.
  17. As I wrote they have to shutoff/lock the windmills due to too much wind
  18. They only idea they have is with huge battery farms. Bloody expensive and need a lot of resources. Storing electrical power in a cost efficient way is the number one question in all of sun/wind power discussion. Ab incompetent (green) German economy minister suggested that industries should work when the sun shines, the wind blows and pause during the dark phases!
  19. Ironically that leads to shutdown of the wind mills. Otherwise they wings would fly off, the electronics burn You not only need wind but good wind. In Germany news swing between close to no wind and sun power and too much, where to stick it? Those battery farms are expensive and need rare materials. Will be quite a waste problem like the EVs.
  20. Escape to the south? Forget it. A bit better but far from healthy/normal. First green spot is in Malaysia.
  21. Too late. Almost impossible to find a green spot this morning. Another poster wrote about Ko Samui at about AQI 130. Explain that with agricultural and waste burning? This genius minister avoids to name one of the biggest problems in pollution by vehicles with poor exhaust standards. For Bangkok and other areas the use of coal power stations and lot of industry adds up.
  22. See a doctor and take your colleague with you.
  23. Maybe a misunderstanding? There is a much recommended online "lecture" that will give you a certificate with QR code (valid for 6 months). Saves you from any sitting and watching videos in the office.
  24. Not doubtful but impossible on a legal way. Med.cert. always required since a few years. Physical tests (eye sight and reaction) at every extension. New picture taken at the office before printing. All else is shady/illegal/corrupt . Nothing CM specific.
