  1. Khon Kaen immigration told me that I should show some proof of income source (pension statement) in addition to one year of bank statements with the monthly transfers. I will probably prepare a big staple of paper incl bank statements from home country and WISE transfer receipts.
  2. At Kasikorn a full detailed messaging about every transaction cost 20 Baht/month extra. Bangkok Bank sends a message if the debit card is used online (don't know whether there is a minimum amount). Yearly fee is 300 Baht for the account and card. To me the headline is simply misleading/wrong conclusion. Not the app does anything but debit cardholders data was leaked. Can be a fraudulent online shop or simply a (foto)copy of the card incl. the three digit verification number, First things when I get a new card: store all data from the card locally on my PC incl. a photo of both sides. Then scratch off the three digit number. Rarely use the physical card at all. Cash withdrawal cardless. Never let stores save the debit card details (untick the option in case). Always enter data from scratch.
  3. There is quite a mix of side effects and overdose in the thread. Blurred vision, headache, heartburn are quite frequent side effects even on normal dosage of Viagra. And that is described in the leaflet ("after four hours...").
  4. Likely the reason. Some wind map says 9 to 10 kts from the south (gulf). Just a proof that the bad air is "homemade" and not blown in. Millions of jammed/clogged cars, Diesel preference via tax/fuel substitute. Diesel exhaust levels forbidden in the west since decades. What do you expect?
  5. Read that Thailand has been downgraded on some democracy index. Not surprising when the main opposition is kicked out for flimsy reasons.
  6. You would be on the safe side with an IDP based on your Thai driving license (5 year regular one). Australia seems to acknowledge the one year IDP (1949 convention) only. This was the rule in Thailand for decades, so no problem. You go to your nearest DLT and ask about a one year IDP. DLT: Departement of Land Traffic ("traffic office"/"motor office"). Which region are you living? There is a very recent thread about the IDP: https://aseannow.com/topic/1319103-international-driving-license-for-thai-local-licence/#comment-18674767 Before the nitpickers wake up: it's an "International Driving Permit" (IDP) not "license". License from issuing country (in your case Thailand) has to be shown together.
  7. Maybe. Very poor meager reporting.
  8. Completely normal for WiFi(?) connection. Router as well as notebook likely not on latest high end WiFi6?
  9. Intermittently cutting in and out? Download rates of 200 or more do not pose a problem for watching streams/videos. Messengers, website browsing even less bandwidth needed. So I doubt it's a band-width/rate problem. I miss a concrete description of what kind of problem you have? Frozen/buffering video streams? Could you provide an example (if generally accessible)?\ Which internet radio channel? (link) Internet radio has very little bandwidth requirements and still it can make problems. I had similar experiences in the past (with 3BB). Had used radio stream via a website, after using a dedicated app for the radio channel no more problems. There are other quality parameters for an internet connection than pure up/down rates.
  10. "Near" is relative. Dotted line is Takhian Tia subdistrict. 21 km straight line from the beach.
  11. Google translation from a Thai source (topnews.co.th): The incident occurred on Road 331, inbound to Sattahip, Village No. 5, Takhian Tia Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District. Chonburi Province I borrowed a much better view of the incident and marked the desired U-turn. Now think what an adventure it is to cross over with such a creeping vehicle. Right lane allowed speed 90 km/h.
  12. It's not precise but plausible. 331 direction south to Sattahip. "Near" Pattaya: 331 is about 16 km direct line from Pattaya beach but of course much closer to the "darkside". The spot seems to be three lanes of concrete, same like near rd 3240 which leads to the darkside. Drove there last July first time after many years and was "shocked" what has become of the "rural" two lane road of the past. It was a wide terrible junk of concrete with lots of construction still going on (wide as a motorway). I missed the "rathole" underpass over to 3240. Very unpleasant driving and not a good path for a "rag and bone man" with his saleng. I am split in judging about these vehicles. Sure they should not be on such roads (I hate it). On the other hand for the poor it's an affordable way to make some money to survive.
  13. The new airport feels oversized (for now). Bad news was in the forum. AirAsia gives up Phuket from Udon and Khon Kaen from end of March.
  14. And I am not aware of any international flights at Khon Kaen currently. At the old airport before COVID they had installed two immigration desks for some flights from China. But as far as I know this has all died down. Don't be fooled by the term "international airport". Just says that they COULD handle international traffic.
  15. BOLT Worked OK for local transport in Pattaya and cheap. In Phuket mixed experience. Driver not capable to understand that I am at the DOMESTIC terminal. Took endless. Terrible noise from at least 3 mobiles in the car (ding dong ding dong at full volume... driver fiddling on the devices). Price not much less than regular taxi. On the way back in the morning needed almost 20 minutes to catch one. Repeated cancellations. As Phuket if off the list for me there is no chance of using again anyway.
  16. The person "scanner" reacts to metal. Notes would not trigger. Coins and gold bars would of course😁 Still don't know what all the fuss is about (regarding entry to Thailand). Up to 20k USD no need to declare. More money can be declared and you should get a certification. And if you have proof of legal source (e.g. account statement, withdrawal), what is to be feared.
  17. Indeed. Why do they fiddle with such microchanges and not care for more important tidying like the scattered date fields...
  18. On the back, the "Changwat..." has been aligned with the Thai phrase. But really if that is all...
  19. For entering Thailand there is no need to hide such amount. Up to 20k USD does not need to be declared. Of course different countries/different rules for leaving/entering.
  20. The first few years I had color copies at Khon Kaen. No complaint. After throwing out the bothersome ink jet all in B/W. Sign with blue color ball pen 😊
  21. Folks in Pattaya get your padded jackets out. 24 C predicted for Wednesday morning
  22. Severe? Fierce? Such dramatic words. Today at noon I gave up and switched on AC in the car. Misc weather forecasts for our area show a chilly 16 C (60 F) for tomorrow morning, cool 29 C ( 84 F) at noon and unbelievable wind speeds of 7 kph. Today some leafs have fallen from the trees. Believe or not
  23. Save the effort. 4 AM, high speed 2nd road Jomtien. We didn't do a bit of a race competition, didn't we? Those bloody curves. You can put as many signs as you want. Speed bumps and tank barriers is the only means that these hooligans understand.
