divorce certificate copy

Featured Replies

Hi pls. help ? My current Boyfriend lost his divorce certificate 27 years ago. And we don't know how and where to start to get a copy.

Thanks in advance.

Starting point will be the amphur. You could try any amphur but might need to go to the amphur where the divorce took place.

It should be in an online database, so one can probably just get a copy from the register stamped by the amphur that one has divorced. But the missing divorce certificate might require a police report.

thank you very much Preacher ?

Some Thailanders said there is no record at all 27 years back. Hope its not true?

He lost it in his home country (UK) . Where he should get the police report in Thailand or UK?

Thanks

They started entering it in the online database years ago, so by now they probably will have it entered.

Try contacting the amphur in question first, and see what they require. You could even ask them to enter it in the online database if they didn't do it yet. But otherwise better safe than sorry and it might be useful to get a police report from the UK.

Why not go to the Amphur and see if your boyfriend is registered on the computer as being married or divorced. He might not be registered at all.

what if he is not registered? does he still needs any kind of document from Thailand to prove it?TIA

Is there any online thing in Thailand where you can request the documents you need? Without going there?TIA

He needs a certificate from the British Embassy. He has to state on oath his correct marital status.

If he states he is divorced he must show them his divorce paperwork.

No divorce paperwork, no certificate, no marriage.

However in the case of a lost certificate that is not on the system or recorded due to the length of time passing then you would need to discuss the matter with the embassy.

You cannot get any information from the amphur yourself.....your boyfriend will have to go in person with his official id or he can appoint a lawyer to do this for him by signing a lawyer appointment form but of course this will involve a charge.

This is the only way you can access the information and as Blackcab states no divorce certificate....no Embassy certificate....no marriage. Sorry!!

Yes. Go ask at the Amphur/Khet where the divorce took place.
