Only five out of 500 PhD graduates are eligible to receive welfare fund

BANGKOK: -- Only five out of a total of 500 people who claimed to have obtained PhDs and have registered as low-income earners are eligible to receive welfare fund from the state, said Krisda Chinavicharana, director-general of Fiscal Policy Office, on Wednesday (Sept 13).

Phuket Muay Thai trainer killed by electric shock

PHUKET: A 37-year-old Muay Thai trainer from Buriram province died in a rental room in Chalong last night after receiving an electric shock from a rice cooker.

Appeals Court gives commuted sentence on Supachai in Klongchan Credit Union scam

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Roadside bombs planted by suspected Muslim insurgents in southern Thailand killed one soldier on Thursday and wounded 20 other people, most of them soldiers and police, security forces said.

SEOUL/JAPAN (Reuters) - A North Korean state agency threatened on Thursday to use nuclear weapons to "sink" Japan and reduce the United States to "ashes and darkness" for supporting a U.N. Security Council resolution and sanctions over its latest nuclear test.
