When Did Nice Weather Start?

Featured Replies

I was sooooo looking forward to getting my electric bill because I have not had to turn on my aircon in quite a while. It usually runs me 2,500 baht (I pay government rate) and that 2,500 is when I run the aircon 24/7.

So when I got handed my bill 3 days ago my jaw literally hit the ground. 3,400 baht!

I cannot read Thai but I think maybe they took the meter reading on December 20th as that is a date on the receipt (which I have attached) but I am not sure. I cannot remember exactly when the cool weather started and when I turned off my aircon. I did crank up my refrigerator quite a bit last month so I'm sure that added to it and if the cool weather started on or near Dec. 20th I guess it would all make sense.

So anyway, does anyone remember when the nice weather started? Also, I attached a pic of my bill so if someone who can read Thai tell me if the meter read date is Dec. 20 or not.

Thanks,

Mafaso

If I was you I would go and check the reading on your meter to make sure they have read it correct. 1600, although obviously possible, looks like a little too round a number for me. If they overread it, it should correct itself on the next reading - but check it! There are of course other possibilites but check that first.

What does the 1600 refer to? Because then there is a 707 which they use to come up with the difference of 893 and that is the number they use to calculate.

Also, what is the extra 700.29 baht they add on at the bottom? (Not the 7%, I know that is tax.)

Thanks.

The 1600 is your current unit count. The 707 is your last unit count. As such, the difference of 893 is your usage.

Like you, not sure what the 700.29 is but guess some type of usage surcharge.

OK, well I think I figured it out. I just checked my meter and it is already at 1750 so I'm thinking the 1600 was probably correct.

I posted a post on this forum on Dec. 22 talking about nice the weather is. They took the reading on Dec. 20. That means that for most of the time (Nov. 20-Dec 20) I did have the air running and it wasn't till about the 20-22 that I was able to turn it off. But it still should have only been what it always is 2,500 baht. My rate comes out to 3.8 a unit and I think it used to be closer to 3.4. So who the heck knows. At least I know my next bill (Dec 20-Jan 20) should be very low.

Thanks for the lesson in reading both electric bills and meters.

The 700.29 is your usage 893 multiplied by the surcharge 0.7842 = 700.29

The surcharge used to be 0.8544 but went down on October last year.
