Up to 400 Yingluck supporters expected at court on judgement day

Intelligence sources estimate that around 300 to 400 people are likely to make their way to the Supreme Court this Wednesday to provide moral support for former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra, when the verdict in the case against her stemming from her administration’s rice-pledging scheme will be read out – albeit probably in her absence.

Two companies of Metropolitan Police officers will be deployed to oversee security and traffic flows in and around the area of the court on the day.

The area will also be inspected before judgement day in the case against the ex-PM, Metropolitan Police deputy commander Pol Maj-General Panurat Lakboon said on Monday.

Yingluck failed to turn up on the original date of August 25 set for the reading of the verdict in the case, and is suspected of having fled the country prior to that date.

Much of the security measures will be the same as those provided for the scheduled August 25 ruling by the Supreme Court.

Mobile metal fences will be put up around 20 to 30 metres from the court’s gate, while no more than 100 people will be allowed to hear the ruling in person in the court’s chamber, Panurat said.

So far, there had been no reports of any "instigation" among Yingluck’s supporters, he added, apparently playing down any concerns over the possibility of an organised protest.

Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan said on Monday that there was no need to have any special additional measures for this Wednesday.

“The police can take care of it, and the court makes it clear about [where people can and cannot stay in] its area,” he said.

'Judgement day'! Oh my, lucky we're in a 'Buddhist' country, the meaning in christian countries being quite different, like godly immediate justice...

I imagine the dark skies and lightning strikes which would have accompanied Yinglucks appearance at the Court then, when she would not have made the runner she told so many times she never would make, that is...

She would have been transformed in a solid piece of carbon in a sec, together with the 'leading' personalities of the Shins' organisations accompanying her. The scorn of the vengefull christian deity, according to the scripture, has quite immediate and definitive consequences...

LOL, 'judgement day', in Thailand, no Thai-bashing, not comparing to other countries, but what a mega-huge barbecue that would be. I know Chinese think of other populations they smell bad, to very offensive, wonder what all those Chinese with Thai ID-cards would smell roasted....

'Military'? Are you sure? Not BiBs, 10 to 1 are needed at least, when it is to 'control' the followers of the master they are the pretorian guard of.

People love a hanging.

Especially when it's 'zero Baht tourism', all-included, transport, food and drinks, give-aways, and some pocket money...

Same public as in my home country, decades ago, when it included the visit of some factory, and lead to a shop where to buy overly expensive crap. Very same-same actually: the Shins' political 'factory', and their overly expensive (for the taxpayers) scams, the fools' mirror.

Can you please point out where it says in the article about the 4,000 heavily armed military?

I must have mised that bit somewhere.

Yep when they see the reality of being hoodwinked and brainwashed it will surely hurt.

One day later, I didn't see any count of the 'I love you Yingluck' hired flock, how many were there? One hunderd, or...? Even the 'elite'(?!) PTP servants and UDD firebrands seemed to have other more urgent obligations on their agenda...

It can't be because they were frightened off, being protected by 4,000 members of Thaksin's pretorian guard, so, where were they all, why didn't they come?

I'd like some sensible comment from the 'red brigade' here, and possibly from some higher-ranked contributors, like Khun Eric, what explained the absence of support for poor little Poo today...?
