The chief of police in Pattaya was stung into action after foreign tourists and widespread social media coverage featured a taxi driver and a Uber driver fighting in a store car park.

The fight was all over the internet causing embarrassment to the chief. It took place at Makro in North Pattaya.

Yesterday Apichai Krobpetch, along with Chonburi Department of Land Transport officials spoke to the taxi driver who took the video.

Somdech Sribenjarak said that he realized that a white Chevrolet with a Uber driver was picking up foreign tourists at Makro so he started filming "for the purpose of providing evidence to the police".

Soon another driver intervened and the fighting with fists, knees and elbows started.

It took place in full view of the tourists and was later shared across social media.

Chief Apichai called the two fighters over the phone but they said they were too busy to drop in.

The Chevy driver is 61 year old Wiradech Sae-yang while the taxi driver is Wuthichai Petchsophon, 51.

Apichai said a summons would be issued if they fail to turn up today.

They face fines of 5,000 baht for being disorderly in public while the DLT can also fine them 5,000 baht or ban them for three months, reported Daily News.

Its clear which mob is running Pattaya, and it aint the ones in uniform.

I have seen motorcyclists being flagged down by the police for not wearing helmets and they just drive on by. They are not respected and it is entirely their own fault.

The sheer apathy shown towards the police is mind boggling and should be more embarrassing to the Chief than the car park scrap.

Mind boggling perhaps, but hardly anything new...

.... IF .... and WHEN these Guys turn up at the Police Station - perhaps the Chief can also ask the TAXI Driver, WHY these Guys REFUSE to use the TAXI METER, even though they have a LARGE SIGN on the roof?? ...... Only here in Pattaya!!

As the saying goes ....... the bottle neck is always on top of the bottle! Clear out the entire police force, if you expect some improvement on that front. This is being tried for the last 41 months with, let's stay positive, rather very very lukewarm success!
