"Pattaya the World Class resort" like Florida - pictures shared across social media

Pictures posted on a popular website purported to show Pattaya and Jomtien beaches free of hanging wires and beautifully landscaped.

Manager reported that the image was gorgeous - a true jet setter's paradise just like Miami - where tourists would walk unhindered enjoying the holiday of a lifetime.

The tagline on 21 pictures posted on the "Dong Phoo Dee Pattaya" page said, somewhat strangely, that the sidewalks would be even better quality than Bangkok.

All that was needed now was something to be done about transport in the resort - including reigning in the taxi mafia.

The image of wonderful Pattaya and Jomtien - International World Class Resort - was shared by 8,300 users online.

No one mentioned the state of the beaches and the sea or the litter dumping that residents have complained about for years.

As this seemed like paradise.....

Yeah... they did get the hues of blue right though.

Will have to take a closer look at the water next time I drive down beach road.

Maybe the creator of such ridiculous campaign fell into the sewers after a drug raid in which all the consciousness-expanding substances were flushed down the toilets.

Before ... it was: Pattaya - the RIVIERA of Asia ...... and now it's ...... the Miami???

WHO could possible come-up with such comparisons?

A Mirage of Grandeur??

.......somebody has been heavy on the Whacki-Tobacki

I don't see the big problem with the comparison.

I've long called Pattaya a poorer man's Miami Beach, without the nice beaches, hurricanes, or Cuban food.

Pretty shrewd actually. All they need is for people to believe this long enough to make one trip to Pattaya (when reality will set in) to swell their coffers and allow them to claim that tourist just can't get enough of this beachside paradise.

Never believe in pictures until you see the real thing. I learnt that 20 years ago when an Indian property development group where trying to sell beachfront villas in Goa on India's west coast.

But when it came to preparing the glossy brochure they decided the actual beach in Goa didn't look good enough so they flew the photographer to Mauritius to take the beach pictures there. Those were the ones used in the brochure.:giggle:

Taxi mafia reign supreme; the police need to rein them in.
