Visa trip to Savankhet

We have just left the consulate and are sat having food next to the river,I applied for a Non O based on marriage with my wife and daughter coming along with me,quite worryingly an American gentleman was asked for proof of finance which seemed to up set him somewhat. He was with his wife but she sat in the waiting area,he was well dressed and up until that point polite,he left the window and disappeared for a while returning with photocopies of something,he went straight to the window and offered the papers but after a short conversation left to sit with his wife, not looking happy. The young lad in front of me immediately started talking about finances as he offered his paper work and again he left to,I believe get something to do with finances,at this point I feared the worst.

I moved to the window my daughter and wife with me,handed my paper work which was checked, stapled together with the request for the money, where upon I was handed my ticket, job done. AsI left breathing a sigh of relief of it being successful I was going to ask the guy what went wrong, but he didn’t look in the mood.

As for the trip I drove from Meachan Chaing Rai,which after a short detour( I went the wrong way) took 16hrs,quicker than busing it but what a pain in the ass, literally, we found a hotel in Mukdahan, showered ate food and then slept in our conditioned room,6.30am saw us up showered and on the way. We parked at the bridge which I payed 500baht for two nights just to be sure the truck was secure and two nights just in case anything went wrong,we ended up running late, not getting over the bridge until 10am giving me fears of Monday ques at the consulate, but when we arrived there couldn’t have been more than six people in line so no problems.

I arrived on a single entry tourist visa which has now been replaced with a NonO, next year it will be an extension to this NonO,so this should be my last trip to Savankhet.

Lovely family :-D well done with the nonO-Visa

Thanks good to know things are still the same cheers

the other guys could have been after a different visa.

good news for you

Actually, last year I met a guy at the Consulate who was coming every 3 months for a non O visa, even though he was not married, had no children, was not teaching and was not retired.

Apparently, he was getting a visa upon showing enough funds...instead of family ties...

Juice777,from the consulate the tuk tuck went straight down the hill to the y junction.there we went right and followed the road to the park play area, the hotel we stayed at is on left hand side of this park with the outside seating built over the river bank, not more than ten minutes. To be honest I wouldn’t recommend the place,it’s just ok,but it served its purpose, later we walked just up the road and sat in a road side restaurant as my daughter wanted a water melon smoothy, while we were there we ordered some food from the menu and the chicken and cashew dish we had was about the best I have eaten, that good that even though your stomach was telling you your full, your heart was saying go on just one more mouth full it’s so good.

My daughter is four and a half and it’s her first big road trip and adventure, she has had the time of her life,it’s been such a joy to be with her, little things like her first ride in a tuk tuk watching that smile was absolutely priceless.

My apologies for the lack of details I just didn’t think of it at the time it’s just now as I sit with my Beerlao writing this it’s a bit vague.

Why not Vientianne? Not so far for u.

I do not think Vientiane will issue a multiple entry Non O visa on the basis of marriage, period. I have heard HCMC will do it. Penang, I think, will if you provide financial proof.
