Perhaps you'd be better trying to find sections of the constitution that actually state staging a coup is illegal!

Have any coup leaders been prosecuted in Thailand since 1932?

But this isn't about coups and the Junta. It's about trying to bring one former, seemingly very corrupt, PM to justice.

Not the constitution , but Criminal Code section 113 Overthrow Government

Whoever, commits an act of violence or threatens to commit an act of violence in order to:

  1. Overthrow or change the Constitution;
  2. Overthrow the legislative power, the executive power or the judicial power of the Constitution, or nullify such power; or
  3. Separate the Kingdom or seize the power of administration in any part of the Kingdom, is said to commit insurrection, and shall be punished with death or imprisonment for life.

Thank you for that.

So of any of the 19 coups leaders, 12 of which were successful, been prosecuted? Were the leaders of the 7 unsuccessful ones prosecuted?

That's the crux of the problem. Glad you brought that up. If the coup leaders were brought to trial from the beginning, that would set a legal precedent and disencourage further coups, Thailand would have been a developed country and democracy would have rid those corrupted politicians.

Another corner stone of justice being put aside. Of course all against certain people, not other people. As long as the Junta is above the law, any court case against their enemies is not being taken seriously.

Of course doing what he suggest is compromising the right to justice for the defendant, one cannot change the rules retroactively. Especially not if the people making the rules do so illegally and without any justification or mandate.

I wonder if they will ever learn their lesson, they are certainly not going to get away with it, it is just a matter of time before this government comes crashing down.

How long have you guys been predicting Thaksin coming back any time soon? 2006?

Not sure why you address this to me ? I have never claimed Thaksin is coming back. However the two general elections that were held after that coup, both have been won by Thaksin's party. But the judgement of the Thai electorate is not to be respected right ?

Why? Because the Thaivisa fascist / crank element know that what you are saying cannot really be argued with, so desperate tactics have to be resorted to.

Someone with a North Korean identity issue arguing about democracy isn't a crank?

So you're saying if the paymasters parties had remained in power corruption would now be a thing of the past..

Really...

of course not, neither will be it be a thing of the past with the current paymasters. Stopping corruption has never been on the agenda for neither of them.

Some fools just repeat what they are told to say and Dumbo's do not realise every time they do, they look even more stupid in the worlds eyes and make it so much more easier to get asylum.

I really doubt the govt cares much about the Shinawatras' asylum requests and almost certainly doesn't want or need them back.  They have to voice their disapproval of granting sanctuary internationally on an "official" level, but the message really being sent is:  "OK, you're out.  Now stay out."

There's a very large faction that'll agree, and an also-large opposition faction which is fast forgetting...  Yingluck may be back one distant day, but I doubt Thaksin will live long enough.
