I shipped a package to my daughter in Chiang Mai via USPS Priority Express. I checked the tracking and it says it's being held in customs in the Lak Si Mail Centre. This is the first time I have shipped to Thailand. There is nothing in the package that is on the prohibited list. I would think if duties have to be paid it would be in Chiang Mai. Any ideas why it is being held?

I have had that happen about 8 times and on every occasion it was because they couldn't find the address. I suggest you go there. If the package is damaged or address is unclear, it won't be delivered unless you tell them where to deliver it to. Other than that it may be due to inspection, that depends on the type of package it is though.

Thank you , I feel a little better about it. The box was heavy  so  I thought it might be inspected although I don't think there is anything in  it this is questionable.

Probably inspections then. I used to have magazines delivered to an office in Muang Thon Thani and they always checked what the magazines were for some reason. they were only classic car magazines but perhaps they thought they were something else.

It would be useful to know what IS in the package.
