Juan B Tong
Memo: to Ministry of Tourism Swimming should be prohibited as it results in dead Chinese, creates a negative impression of Thailand and pollutes the sea.

fiddlehead
Yesterday it was a Russian at Karon. Rough seas out there folks. Minimal lifeguards. Good luck to the red flag snubbers. (this one was a snorkeling trip instead, but still too rough IMO to be out)

Far too many would fail = bad for bookings = less money to be made.

MadMuhammad
Asking people if they can swim and to sign waivers is/should be common practice. I’m curious as to how many would admit that they couldn’t swim though. People tend to take a lot of chances when on holiday in my experience Edited October 17, 2017 by MadMuhammad

Old Croc
Considering several million Chinese visit the island of Phuket every year it's not surprising some drown because around 60,000 drown each year in their own country. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2016/10/04/few-chinese-know-how-swim/91115602/
