snoop1130 Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 Excuse me sir....what is that you might be smoking? Thai social media went bonkers as footage emerged of a Chinese tourist drawing on a massive bamboo bong outside the passenger terminal at Don Meuang airport in Bangkok. The 36 second video posted on Facebook by "Nes Tanapon" showed the tourist sitting and repeatedly puffing as another men near him smiles and a security guard looks on in bemusement. It wasn't long before someone came and asked him what he was smoking. It turned out to be tobacco but he was reminded that it didn't look good and might not be the best thing to do at an airport in Thailand. The evidence was confiscated and it ended with smiles all round and no charges. Thai Facebook posters had fun with their comments: Arun Jitphian suggested that the tourist couldn't get any dry rolling papers after the floods so he made do with a floating bong. While Nut Kittisak remarked on the original security guard in the video suggesting ironically that he was waiting patiently for his turn at the bong. Coconut007 Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 Is it in non smoking area? No Is it illegal to smoke? No Was it a slow day for newspapers and bored Thai "netizens"? Certainly
fasteddie Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 Tobacco? Yeah right that's what is officer, tobacco! Got any noodles?
daiwill Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 same as the smoking of tobaccos in Vietnam in many places. Where and what is the problem? Get a grip on your neighbour's habits Thailand , especially as you want more chinese and other ASEAN tourists . You started the process of wanting more ASEAN visitors!!
ksamuiguy Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 The guy is not hurting anyone, leave him alone he will spend money here in "The Kingdom".
jonclark Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 See what happens when tourists can't smoke at the beaches !!
Thian Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 He bought some souvenhirs and was so smart to test it first. Why is this in the newspaper? Because he's chinese i bet...Which Thai sold this thing to him and is that illegal? I see Thai smoking e-cigarettes just in public spaces like malls (smoking area) or piers..nobody cares.

It is a victimless 'crime' unless one is a greedy tobacco monopoly. Ridiculous laws such as banning e-cigarettes and bongs are simply asking to be broken.

rkidlad Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 It doesn't look good. He's a bad foreign man. Nitizens more that happy to complain and judge sanctimoniously. People with low self-esteem can breathe a little more easily for a few minutes.
hobz Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 Would be better if it was cannabis he was smoking because it is much less harmful than tobacco, fact, just saying....

Then they should get used to Chinese men spitting gobs all over the sidewalks and honking out 'lungers' in restaurants too

Assault someone 500 bt.. smoke a joint go to jail for a year or more.
MaxLee Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 He's Chinese, he'll get a 500 Baht fine and a pass.....

Paid for in China to a tour operator who in turn paid a Thai business. Or do Chinese charter flights carry a week of food for the entire plane load ?
DrTuner Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 Tobacco, that's alright then. Had he been vaping he'd been drawn and quartered right there on the spot.
Sydebolle Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 Another proof of quality tourism - he even brought his own drinking water from China along; see the bottle standing on the floor. As it exceeds 100ml I wonder how he got into Thailand - hand luggage?

khunPer Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 Believe to remember, that such a thing – in the good old, long ago vanished hippie-era – was in Danish called a "tju bang" – look like Google suggest it's a "Kawumm" in foreign language...

The problem, which seems to passed you by, is so serious that Prayuth himself intervened & a number of coaches were impounded.
