Sophon Cable TV reported that electrical engineers from the PEA and several cable operators were at work in Pattaya yesterday.

Pictures showed them trying to decide which cable is which.

The PEA (the provincial electrical authority) have got together with three cable companies to do some beautification work - they also hope it will improve service in the area of Soi Nong Prue.

The road leads to the Pattaya water authority and has been the subject of many complaints.

The PEA engineers were looking to see which cables are still used and asking for permission to remove the old ones, said Sophon.

The work is part of more widespread attempts to improve the unsightly mess of hanging wires throughout the resort.

About time to. Nearly every day I see new cables being installed on overloaded poles but have never seen cables removed. It seems only thieves successfully do that!

Cut all cables; re-instate those when a customer complains/queries.

That's far too sensible for Thai thinking???

They'll all be cleared before sunrise.

Just don't cut the fibre cables and I am all for it.

You mean dig up Pattaya Klang again?

There are probably only a few dozen different cable and phone companies so in the profusion of what appears to be several dozen upwards cables, many must be old and unnecessary. Many are coiled up there too,  must be a fortune in scrap value.
