Russians coming back to Pattaya after charter flights diverted to U-Tapao

The head of the Hotel Association for the Eastern Seaboard told a meeting this week that he expected tourist arrivals from Russia to begin getting back to previous levels prior to the collapse of the rouble.

Sanpetch Suphabuansathian said that many Russian charter flight were now rerouting to U-Tapao airport from Suvarabhumi and this was good news for Pattaya hoteliers.

He said he expected that 80-90% of the charter flight passengers landing at U-Tapao would holiday in Pattaya in the last quarter of this year and the first of the next - the high season for tourism.

The rest of the Russians would go to Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.

He said there was increasing interest from three large Russian tour agencies with the people once again focusing on foreign holidays as the rouble and economy recovers.

Sanpetch was talking at the Sunbeam Hotel.

I hope they like INDIAN food.

Most of the Russian restaurants have long CLOSED.

I guess I need to bone up on my sitting on top of baht bus passengers etiquette. That's when you board a bus and three Russians are spread out taking up the space of five and they don't move or even acknowledge your existence.

But when you sit on them ...

Big fun!

the Ruble was in "trouble".......

But just taking the "T" out ....

doesn't make it a "Ruble"....

Suggests you should get yourselfself a spell-check

Both spellings are acceptable. I suggest you try Google. Spellcheck can also be written thus. But I could not find yourselfself anywhere.

No they don't and  if the town gets flooded with Russkies as before there goes my theory that Pattaya has potential as a foodie destination. Back to Borschtville ...

Ruskies flooded jomtien last high season and it's about to get worse?

Perhaps another 100 baht buses jomtien to Pattaya might help and oh yeah a deodorant dispenser lady handing out squirts at 10 baht a pop would be awesome

Not sure how many Russian charter flights will be landing in U-Tapao.

I have been to Saigon, Nha Trang, and Da Nang. Vietnam is full of Russians.

Cheaper beer and liquor, cleaner beaches and streets. Great value hotels.

As Vietnams airport infrastructure and travel visas for G20 countries

citizens simplifies Thailand's tourist numbers will decrease (with the exception

of zero baht 4 day Chinese tourists) . Just my opinion. I went to Vietnam once to

do a SETV run and visit my mothers childhood home town and went back twice more

for side trips. A buddy of mine is currently doing his 5th trip to Vietnam looking

to move from Puerto Galera Philippines to Dalat. Cambodia/ Myanmar may be

shooting themselves in the foot with government policies but Thailand is also

killing the golden tourist goose with pollution, corruption and spiraling

increases in cost.

Russians come for the beaches, jomtien and koh larn where the barbie dolls go topless and all drink beer

The other reason is walking St. You can not replicate the street anywhere else on the planet especially Vietnam!!

As my Lady says - Russians give us all "Free Cow Perfume"  she's sort of a vegetarian and says all Russian men sell like our cows on the farm.   :clap2:

Drunk Russian on holiday :)

Looks like an "all inclusive" place; no money changing hands. I don't have a problem with Russians but they only consider themselves drunk when they pass out.

Russian Ruble lost about 50% of its value to the Baht during 2014 and has not significantly rebound.

I think this will still limit the crowd?

Turkish lira is similar weak as the Ruble.

It was worse than 50 percent and as you can see there has been some recovery:
