Teen pregnancies on the rise

BANGKOK, 3rd November 2017 (NNT)-The 1663 Hotline has disclosed that teen pregnancies are now on the rise, while also urging the Ministry of Education to change its approach to dealing with the issue.

According to the 1663 Hotline operation, out of 10,870 people calling the center regarding unwanted pregnancies so far this year, 17.4% of them were females under 20 years of age.

A hotline analyst, Thitiporn Dontreepong, said the number is likely to increase further due to the lack of safe-sex education and access to proper protection.

The 1663 Hotline Chief Somwong Uraiwattana said today that schools are sometimes a problem. Some places have failed to keep the pregnancy under wraps while some simply expelled the pregnant student.

He wanted the Ministry of Education to develop a specific course of action to deal with teen pregnancies more effectively. Somwong added that it should be mandated that they can’t be expelled from school and that assistance be given to help them cope with the situation.

Suggestions and opinions on the matter will be collected and compiled into a report for the Ministry of Education for consideration.

Well, the wind just whistles through the head of the average teenage girl here when it comes to the first scooter-riding fool they meet and probably she thinks along the lines of "He shared his Pepsi with me, he must love me." Mix that with Scooter Boy's desire to pop as many cherries as he can and his propensity to run away from the aftermath as to hell with any responsibility and move on to the next one.

What could go wrong? Maybe a properly empowered child support agency run by a Thai Nurse Ratched might help.

What exactly does this refer to/mean?

Condoms can be accessed next to everywhere and are fairly affordable as well, so what's the missing part I am not reading here? Legit want to know, I'm not about nuances such as"idiot meets idiot and make a bad decision, dude doesnt feel jack with it, too shy to buy it (from online retailers!), couldnt afford it, it's not 100% safe anyway, I'll pull out in time, etc".

Plan B pill(?) is available over the counter as well iirc, soooo....

Is there anything worse than that 'condom moment'?  Invent something that doesn't take so much pleasure away, and doesn't look so horrible. Problem solved.

It's called "the pill".

Maybe time fpr sex education in schools instead of being ashamed of it and not discussing it?

I know doctors who accidentially became pregnant because they know so little about safe sex. The average 15-year old in the west knows more about the subject.

Blame it on the classic can opener: Spy and Bacardi Breezer.

Can opener or leg opener?

Can opener leading to leg opener leading to leg over leading to "legging it" afterwards

They should have pushed ahead with the free contraceptive implants instead of just mulling over the idea. Then, of course, which teenage girl would have the nerve to front a hospital or clinic and ask for the implant? They'd be branded as "loose" in this society and treated with disdain.

In this case, probably the same.

Anyway, it all comes down to most guys not wanting to use a condom, the girls agreeing with it, and not taking the pill because it gives acne.

They say.

Ah, so going to be a huge drop in the average age of the bar girls from 35 to 21 then soon !

21 year olds use social media, not bars.

If you can't use social media, you're  gonna be stuck with the 35 year olds.

Lived with a girl who had the 5 year fan .......... but that was 9 years back and they no longer appear to be in fashion.

From personal experience I found it surprising how many Thai females with age no barrier, literally, don't like to use a condom so is the result surprising?
