That presumably excludes all the Sth Asian girls manning kiosks in a large Patong shopping mall. Several Western foreigners accosting people and acting as beauty cream shop sales in a large Mall not in Patong are also filling jobs reserved for Thai nationals. The many restaurants and shops employing illegal Burmese staff and so on.....Nothing will ever change.

They are probably 'workers'. When you see what you think are Thais doing menial work such as  builders labourers or the many hundred workers in Super cheap Phuket a few years ago, they are not. My Thai girlfriend told me "not Thai, they are Laos or Myanmar or Indonesian.

Wonder why ????

“Some cases only have fines such as riding motorbike without helmet/license or drink and drive. For these cases, the foreigners were fined and released back and there is no need to send them to the immigration.”

Perhaps it's all in one's interpretation of crime

Yes . . . 2,415 criminal cases, minus the 685 immigration 'referrals' means that 1,730 were not referred to the IP. How is it then that the 'Earlier estimates' indicated only 142 as the not referred figure? Someone, be it station superintendents, sergeants or mere officers has been telling lies on a Titanic scale that just confirms the already widespread view that the RTP is rotten to the core, without the slightest regard for the truth or the simple ethic that lying is wrongThe TRUTH is that lying is endemic, within the force, almost as if the ability to lie with a straight face is a requirement for entry.

Lying is a cultural norm. It is not just the police. Lying is usually about gaining, either monetary or face and it is so embedded in the culture that sometimes it just is. My observation after more than 10 years in The Kingdom.

It`s not all about money and corruption. It is because there is no coordination between the different police departments. There are no proper systems installed and no communications between the the police and the immigration police. One half dosen`t know what the other half is doing = no organisation and chaos.
