Megasin1
A sad day and condolences to the children's families. I hope they string the driver up by his nuts ! Whether he was to blame or not, he should never have fled the scene.

I always feel safer when driving myself in Thailand. There's still a chance someone could drive into me as often they are approaching head on, in my lane and flashing their lights. The fact is, all drivers in Thailand face that possibility. I just prefer to have an experienced, sober and competent driver taking me around and so far, I'm best suited to that task. Why do you say it was self modified, no suggestion of that in the report. I imagine there are specialists who do this work for it to pass the inspection for licenceing. It was logical statistically as the Authorities do no enforce their own new rules! Read a couple months ago about how many can travel in the back of a pickup. That never happened! Shame Shame Thailand ! Now killing your own children! For the sake of your future get your act together. Your updated laws are useless! By the way I'm having a smoko on Pattaya beach. That:s 100,000 bah fine. Come and get me. The driver in this accident will get 500 Bah fine plus many FREE wai's!

A modified pickup, an old one at that, being driven at high speed with the weight of many students raised up in the back, the slightest thing would have made the vehicle lose control. Was there not a single policeman to stand up and say, 'NO , let's not let this happen, not this time' ? No of course not. Looks quite modern to me in the pic. After all, it's only a pickup with seats. Edit: In saying the above I believe passengers , on the back of pickup's, are no longer allowed by law? i have a 4 door pick up and its only insured for 5 people thats standard, the insurance company told me anybody in the back is not covered and you have to pay for them seperatly if you have an accident! thats why i never let any family sit in the back. Daveyh
It has to be the "Thai mindset" that causes Thai's to drive the way they do. Irrespective of whether they ride or drive it's the same irresponsible behaviour ....... even with a full "family" passenger load. Life is precious to all of us, especially family ..... so why is this always happening here? I've had the misfortune to witness road rage with murderous intent here ..... absolutely shocking ........ so many "hot heads" it's becoming almost an epidemic. Really upsetting to witness & see everyday ..... sad.
yrag
He was arguing with wife, have baby with them ...she grabbed the steering wheel...then the unthinkable happened.., He ran away, she in hospital and 50/50 chance baby will live...from a passenger who survived...why they not have school buses, but buy useless submarines from china...instead of school buses ???? The Prayuth effect is what happened. Know what that is? A proclamation is made. The forces go into effect for 7 days. Then all is forgotten. If anything could be said about this so called leader, it is that he cannot, will not, and does not follow up on anything. Sometimes that is a very good thing. Sometimes not in the case of traffic safety. He just does not care.

Pui
Until the law is taken seriously, these horrific scenes will continue to be part of life in Thailand. Enforcing road laws have to come from the government, its a top down process. Very sad indeed. Truck_not_for_passengers.mp4
