CityNews – Maejo University students have rallied against a pub in San Sai after a student died from injuries sustained from the bouncer at the bar after a fight.

The incident occurred around midnight on November 17th at Ocean, a pub across from Maejo Police Station. A group of about ten students reportedly at the pub when the bouncers came over to talk to one of the students and then started to beat him. The attack led to a brawl between the students and the bouncers. A member of staff was hit by a bullet after one of the bouncers draw a gun on the fight. The brawl ended when the police arrived shortly afterwards. Seven students were injured and one died from injuries sustained several hours afterwards.

On November 20th, Maejo University students rallied together in protest at San Sai District Administration Office to file a case to the governor of Chiang Mai questioning the violence of the pub bouncers which they claim happens often. The students claim that there have been many fights at the pub but police rarely get involved despite being next door, and ignore complaints about the establishment.

and they kept going back for more....must be a pretty good vintage of warm Chang.....could underage drinkers be a factor?  I wonder if they are check

ing who the parents are before the murders.  Seems like it would be the easiest way to get off Scot free.  One million CCTV in CM....let me guess..not here?  Well chain the 10 together in a cell and get a Maejo student to play her violin....they will sing.

Not of concern to Farang

It most certainly is. Bullets have a habit of hitting unintended targets. The idiots who discharge a weapon in a crowded venue care nothing about ricochets or a misdirected bullet hitting  someone away from the venue.

Jail both the bouncers and the students. No moral high ground

for either party.

Mass imprisonment without a determination of responsibility? Collective punishment of the innocent is not justice. How about a proper investigation first and then charging the implicated people?

The students  are not the ones who murdered the student. As per the story;

 bouncers came over to talk to one of the students and then started to beat him.

A member of staff was hit by a bullet after one of the bouncers draw a gun on the fight

It's the bouncers who are implicated as the responsible party. Once we identify who they are and their relationship to the police officers across the street, then we will have a good idea of why nothing is happening.
