derek744
Popped into DLT Chatuchak today to get blue book updated with my new address. First I attended Building 2 for this purpose. Very nice lady got me the correct form, sorted the documents I brought and then picked a queue ticket for me. The new address was on my rental lease - I took a copy plus original (they did ask to see the original) and this was enough evidence for my blue book to be updated. I then asked if my Thai car and bike licences could also be updated/linked to the new address. I was sent over to Building 4 to do this. They told me my rental lease was not sufficient and that I needed a Certificate of Residence. So in 2 different buildings on the same plot they have different requirements! I now need to pop into Immigration at Changwattana to get the certificate. Questions: I will be selling a car and also buying a car in the near future - I believe this requires the same certificate? Will one certificate suffice or do I need 3? What is the use by date of the certificate - does it have an expiry date? What's the usual processing time at Changwat? Many Thanks
Just Weird
"So in 2 different buildings on the same plot they have different requirements!". In two different offices they have different requirements for the two different things you wanted. "Will one certificate suffice or do I need 3? What is the use by date of the certificate - does it have an expiry date? What's the usual processing time at Changwat?" One certificate will do the jobs" There are no expiry dates, it's just a letter confirming your address. Best to check with the people who need to see it how old it can be for their purposes. I got mine in the post from CW 10 days after applying for it. They will tell you that it could take up to 3 weeks.
Rdrokit
You will need a Certificate of Residence when you sell a vehicle, they will keep the copy. Then you will need another Certificate of Residence to buy a vehicle. I sold my car then bought a bike and new car and needed 3.
