A real long shot but here goes anyway....

Trying to get an ex-girlfriend "out the game" but like most WG's, she left school early and has no qualifications or credentials

Seeking employment in the hotel industry but says they won't even look at her without im guessing basic secondary school qualifications or maybe she means she has no CV and no references or even employment history let alone tax ref number etc

Must be alot of guys on here who have been down this same road?

So looking for someone who can point me in the right direction....  i know 100% there will be a guy or a shop/office offering a service for a fee to help her write a CV or help get a tax card and maybe could even help in acquiring school leavers certificate, everything shell need to get a job

Maybe im over thinking this and really just needs a creative CV writing service or just some advice

Career counselling for bar girls?

Based in Pattaya and Bangkok

Thanks in advance

She can go back and complete high school. It can be done as evening classes and depending on how many years she missed, crammed into a shorter period of time. Without finishing school, legit jobs will be difficult to find. My ex did this and is now doing university.

Don't know of any evening classes, but every Amphur has a free Sunday high school for those who want to pass, takes 4 years if you never attended high school. The 'Rat' universities will then accept her on a degree course.

After 2 years at Amphur Sunday school, she get's the certificate KFC, Tesco, 7-11 require for employment.

OP

Although most of the girls working as hookers do it because they've too lazy to do a regular job, not because they lacked any opportunity. Guess yours may be different.

You really think those types of jobs will help?  Many Hooters, Beer-rep, or Sports bar girls are fair game too; just because the bar has no bar fine/short time/ladies drink policy does not mean the girls are not available after closing. If that type of job is fine with you, then why not have her still work in any bar and simply not go with customers? A typical recourse to your all too common situation is to buy your girl some kind of business somewhere; which more than likely will fail because she has no business/work ethic/management experience.  I believe the best course of action is to get her the education to qualify for another type of work; however, this too has dubious results. The girl has to want to get out of the business, get the education and be willing to do the work needed to get the qualifications. If the education is only secondary school or some basic job certification; then what, work in at most a B10-12k/mo job? Much easier, if she has any talent, to remain in the profession and make the same money or more without the work. The more enterprising girls will simply take-on a long-term customer--some may euphemistically call it a husband--even if she does not love or even like him.

in bkk, there are plenty of sports bars/english pubs that employ servers...the girls do not engage in bar fines, etc...there's an american sports bar near the nana bts, as i recall, called the game...start there, as the manager is farang, and does a very good job of actually training the staff...keep in mind that "real" jobs require "real" work...so your gf may not want to actually work...

Good on her. My wife, who is a Filipina, had already gone to one year of college when we met, but she wanted to continue school. So, I financed her university education. Her human resources and management degrees helped her have a career as a project manager and now she has a good pension, something I do not have. She taught English here for two or three years, when we first got here. During our 40 years together, my wife coached and encouraged several of the wives of our friends who wanted to finish high school and go on to university. Unfortunately, some of them dropped out before completing university and some never finished high school--and these were all girls who swore they really wanted to get an education. However, the ones who did finish are doing well, most have good jobs and their husbands are so proud of them.

I am actually surprised she can't find a job at a small hotel or restaurant. They

are always looking for girls that have some ability to speak English. The real issue

is the money is not what the girls are used to and they really have to work, not

gossip with friends, drink and dance. I know not all duties of bar work are pleasant

for the girls but the girls do like being the object of desire as well. Lots of temptation

to go back to the life. It can be addicting whether they care to admit it or not.

Your last sentence was in my mind already. Hence Orchard Road in Sings.

Go to an job interview dressed and behave like an office girl, with modest make up, and speak  standard formal Thai, would be my firs advise.

For a serious job, she will no doubt need a CV and proof of education. Plus many of the girls who work in bars have little formal education and many do not speak standard formal Thai--just like the uneducated boys or girls anywhere will not necessarily speak the formal version of their native languages.

She probably can, but as you say, at what salary; maybe B3-5k/mo. An enterprising and talented girl can make that in one day.

So says someone who obviously has "Been there done that" on Orchard a long, long time ago.

It has no use at all to fake a CV for someone who has 3 years of primary school and only can speak street talk. There are a couple of things she can do:

1) Get a proper education, will take long.

2) Start a business, she needs to have talent to do this.

3) Do a course to do a job she might like (hair stylist or other beauty related work)

This is a concept that has worked for well over 70% of the TV membership so inclined.

And this accounts for a further 20%.

The remaining 10% are still sponsoring.

That is an excellent success story. Well done indeed.

A lot of caring farang boyfriends have funded their chosen bedwarmer's straight shot at the beauty salon without doing the all-important training and certification bit. By the same token, some have funded these exercises in vocational training only to find their sweethearts literally can't cut it.

Either way, the landlords love them!

Not sure what all members of TV have done. However, I agree that many barstewards have allowed the gf to stay working at the bar, but not go with customers. So, she may have to limit her services to short times, early exits from the customer's bed, or the old stand-by, a night out with her girl friends.  Of course, the jackpot is the long-term customer; he pays all expenses, gives her a lucrative allowance, pays for sick buffaloes, and she can still have a gik or a customer on the side.

Just to point out less than 20% of Thais have attended High School ..... even for 1 day (UN stats)

Thais with a CV ......you gotta be joking.

That statement make me wonder about all the uneducated migrant workers in the hotel and service sector.

If your ex-GF can speak a decent level of foreign language – presumably English most important – there should be plenty of options in the service sector (Bangkok and Pattaya); i.e. hotel staff (many resorts wish all staff to speak some level of English as the major or only qualification, they'll teach them how to clean a room), restaurant serving, etc. etc.

But that's of course also a question of what your ex-GF is prepared to work as, as some job are considered "low status" by Thais, and your GF may "loose face" – especially if a bird from the nightlife still has contact with fellow birds – not to forget potential income and life-style...:whistling:

Alternatively education is an option, private educational schooling in for example hair dressing or beauty sector don't require CV or school-certificates. Probably there are numerous levels of education and schooling as options for a future career. Education – especially with the potential to become a business owner in the future – "make face"...

I've seen many night-birds successfully changing career – normally helped by sponsor – but never seen any changing to "low status" jobs.

I wish you and your ex-GF good luck with her career-change...
