Pattaya station chief Apichai Krobpetch appeared for the media to celebrate the quick resolution of two thefts committed on Monday and solved by Tuesday.

They involved a snatch theft after a pick-up of a Thai woman in Walking Street and the theft from the room of an Irish man who fell asleep after taking a woman back.

The Irish man, named only as Mr K, took Adree Wongsatho, 42, back to his room at Niran Grand Condominium in Soi Arunothai in Central Pattaya.

But when he fell asleep she made off with his iPad mini. She was soon found along with the evidence.

In the other case a Thai woman by the name of Suphakporn Iam-tanote, 33, called a motorcycle taxi man she had used before to come and pick her up from the end of Walking Street at 5 am Monday.

He arrived then dropped his phone. As she stooped to pick it up driver Chay Khonguamthangam, 39, saw his chance and grabbed her bag containing a phone, cash and documents and sped off into the night.

He was soon arrested at his lodgings and said in mitigation that he needed money for Ya Ba.

Both victims thanked the police for their quick detective work in solving the crimes.

Well, I guess that's alright then. At what point did he think that that would fly as an excuse...moron. 500 baht fine and a wai then will suffice huh.

3 questions

Is that the Irishman in the photo?

Is that the woman who took his phone?

Do they not have Specsavers in Ireland?
