January 2, 20188 yr Super full moon on Tuesday night By Thai PBS The first super full moon of the year falls on the evening of Tuesday (Jan 2) when the moon is closest to Earth in its monthly orbit. Of the 13 full moons and 14 lunar perigees occurring in 2018, this is the closest alignment of full moon and lunar perigee for the year. Saran Poshyachinda, director of the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT), said that the super full moon could be seen from 6 pm onward until 10 pm, with the moon is about 356,595 km from the Earth which is the closest alignment of the moon. January 2, 20188 yr Usually too cloudy in C M to see the moon, but we may be lucky. It's only partial cloud cover at the moment.
January 2, 20188 yr Saw the moon 6 am today. It wasn't quite full but appeared to be considerably larger than usual. Look forward to tomorrow

January 3, 20188 yr I went to the Observatory to watch the "super full moon" with my child. Before the "Super full moon", we had an introduction to the observatory and a 3D movie in the dome. SUPER day out. Was like a Full Moon party in Korat. Lot's of people and a great ambiance (I was the only foreigner). My kid enjoyed it very much.
January 3, 20188 yr I did see it in all it's glory on a perfectly clear night. Unfortunately, it didn't seem to be especially large, but that's not to say it wasn't a great sight. If they are having full moon parties again on Phangan, I'm sure they enjoyed it too. For some reason, the moon always looked larger there than elsewhere even when it wasn't a super moon.
