BANGKOK, 2 January 2018, (NNT) - The Prime Minister has urged officials to strictly maintain road safety measures, while remaining vigilant against criminals operating near transportation hubs.

Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha instructed traffic police, military officers, and related administrative officials to step up their road accident prevention policies and support motorists heading back to the capital.

He credited cooperation between the officials and the public for reducing the number of road accidents so far, comparing the latest reports to figures from last year. According to the report, the number of holidaymakers who returned to their hometowns was higher than in 2016.

A large number of holidaymakers is expected to make their way back to Bangkok tonight. Therefore, the Prime Minister stressed that authorities must be extra careful and vigilant in enforcing traffic rules.

Gen Prayut also emphasized the importance of additional security at public transportation hubs. He said authorities should be on the lookout for criminals, particularly thieves, operating at various van, train and bus stations.

Records say the leading causes of accidents have been drunk driving, speeding and cutting off other vehicles.

No. The leading cause of accidents is the do nothing Thai police and government who allow the Thai public to drive anyway they want by not actively enforcing the law.

Reminds me of King Canute and the sea

More piss and vinegar with absolutely zero substance, the only thing he really takes serious is the silencing of his opponents he couldn't care less about the peasants....

I live in Ao Nang, Krabi and not once over the last four days have

I seen a policeman doing anything other than sitting behind a desk inside a tent at the side of the road.

Traffic is horrendous, scooters with three people, no helmets and police do nothing, will it ever change? I don’t think so.

But after tomorrow normal service can be resumed.
