Independent News Network painted a rosy picture of Thai tourism after making a visit to the beach at Phang Nga in the south of Thailand.

They reported that restaurants and the beaches on a two kilometer stretch were full of happy people enjoying the beautiful surroundings with hotels full to bursting.

Children were playing joyfully at the shore making families happy.

INN had visited the area of Bang Sak beach in Takua Pa district.

Chuchart Orncharoen - the director of Tourism Authority of Thailand operations in the area - confirmed the good news.

He said that 70,000 tourists had visited the area with the 10,000 plus rooms showing 95% occupancy.

He said that the tourists would bring in 0.6 billion baht.

.... the dive shops destroyed that illusion long ago....

Wow with all this high numbers of tourists, I wonder if I can find a hotel room in

Hua Hin on Jan 29th.  Hope I don't have to sleep in a bar chair.
