Sorry, but you guys need to think beyond your own personal benefit.  Allowing foreigners to own land wouldn't just mean farangs flocking to Thailand.  It would mean Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, Singaporeans, and a host of other regional wealth, carving up Thailand like a Thanksgiving Day turkey.  The average Thai wouldn't be able to own land in their own country.  Real estate would artificially inflate, inequality would widened, the rich get richer, political unrest, etc.  

 

Every foreigner who comes to Thailand should already know/understand this aspect of Thai law.  Yet, you chose to come anyway....and then whine/whinge about it.  Fact is, foreigners can already own land...through their Thai spouse.  But you don't trust your spouse...?  Sounds like a personal problem.   

That they enact a law that all Farang's wanting a long term or retirement Visa's have to speak rudimentry Thai.  Automatic approval of the visa to those that can read rudimentry Thai.  You live here, you should make an attempt to read & speak a little Thai.

Thai government to heavily subsidise,  or make free,  one way tickets to the home country for all the whining farangs who seem to despise Thailand,  the Thai people,  their culture and everything about the place generally.

The new 4 year professional VISA seems like it will answer lots of the immigration problems for a select few. Looking forward to when that one kicks in. Owning land in Thailand would be nice but I agree with Berk the proverbial shat storm of everyone buying up Thailand would be horrible. Gas prices might jump a bit due to the oil finally climbing to +/- $67 and the tension in Iran will only seem to make it climb more.

to get a yearly visa with 50,000 baht/month to live in Thailand :D

 

I would wish some one would import good quality electric space heaters for the cold season. Would be nice to heat some rooms in the house during cols season
