Hi guys, it would be great if you can help me on visa topic. I plan a trip from Bulgaria (my citizenship) to Phuket with a one-time tourist visa issued by Thai consulate in BG, then plan to leave Phuket, fly to Cambodia and return in Thailand (Bangkok). I read that the cheapest option is to receive re-entry permit while still in Phuket, but I'm a bit confused if this has to happen at the airport, just before flying to Cambodia or at their Immigration office in Panang. Can you please advise?

What made me doubt that I'll be able to do this at Phuket airport was this post (http://www.thaiembassy.com/tha…/re-entry-permit-thailand.phpsaying:

"If you have an extension of stay but would like to travel outside Thailand for a short period then you will need to apply for a Re-Entry permit. Unlike before that this can be secured at the airport, Immigration rules have changed and you can now apply for a re-entry permit at the following:

Thai Immigration located at Suan Pluh, Bangkok
Any other immigration checkpoint"

And the list with these checkpoints doesn't include Phuket airport location.

That is old outdated info on a unofficial commercial website.

Since you will be on a 60 tourist visa entry you can apply for a re-entry permit at any immigration office if you have a local address to put on the application form for it.

You can apply for a singe re-entry permit (1000 baht fee) the keep the remainder of the 60 day entry valid when you re-enter the country.

In Phuket you can apply for it at the main office in Phuket or the sub office in Patong.

The re-entry permit desk at the Phuket airport has irregular hours so it is best to get it at one of the offices there.

Thanks, so it should be Patong office, 1 day in advance from the flight to Cambodia.

You apply for it at anytime before your planned departure date at Patong.

I wouldn't go just one day before your flight, as in Thailand always something unexpected can happen.

You can actually go the next day after you arrive, thus giving you peace of mind
