Hello!

Is it possible for a Thai-French (or any other nationality) child to enter Thailand with a French passport? His Thai one has expired and if we can save a trip to Paris... He will travel with his (Thai) dad only and will stay less than 30 days. I have read older posts saying than children under 15 don't get fined for overstay and that they only get an overstay stamp in their other passport, is it still the case? Is there a possibility that he can't enter Thailand at all?

Thank you very much for your help!

Yes, he can enter Thailand using his French passport without any problem. He will receive permission to stay for 30 days, which can be extended by 30 days at immigration if necessary.

I believe he can also enter on  his expired Thai passport. Others can confirm or not.

No need, no benefit, and could create unnecessary problems.

He can enter on expired passport but then have to renew it while in Thailand, this requires letter of concent from the mother in Thai script.

Not recommended approach.

If he enters on French passport he can get one year extension of stay at immigration as Thai citizen.

I used to do the same, using EU country passport, even the kid have a valid Thai passport that I carry.

I leave Thailand once with the Thai passport, of the kid, then until now, I use the EU passport to enter & exit

Until now, no problem at all. I do this because I am not in relationship anymore with her mother.

I don't want to use the Thai passport to enter in Thailand, because there's many problem !

1. If I lose the Thai passport, my kid will be locked in Thailand, until her mother can issue a new Thai passport

2. There's many people said that they're getting in troubles when leaving Thailand that the IO asking for mother authorization, etc..

So as her mother and me, we don't contact anymore.

I gonna use only the EU passport of my kid to enter in Thailand, even it's more costly.. Especially I need to pay the visa for the Laos, etc.. extension, but I am in peace of mind
