Postal problems

Featured Replies

I now rarely receive mail at my address in Kalasin Province. True and CAT bills, if they arrive at all (once in the last six months), arrive at least three weeks after the date on them and past the pay-by date. Getting them from Bangkok by bicycle would be quicker. This follows on from no-one in the area receiving mail for two months because the postman decided not to deliver it but destroy it instead. So much easier for him. As far as I know nothing happened to him, whereas in the Real World he would have faced a jail term. He was about to retire so it was a case of the usual Mai Pen Rai. Later, after we thought that problem had been resolved with a new postman, we received about six letters bundled together a few weeks ago, and nothing since.

This non-delivery has caused me a great deal of trouble as one of the letters I failed to receive was from my UK bank, and my lack of response led to my account being placed under restriction. I am very worried now that I will not receive the periodic letters from two pension providers who require a form to be signed confirming I'm not dead yet. If I don't respond to those letters I will stop receiving my monthly payments.

Any suggestions what can be done?

Use a family address and have them email contents?  Use a mail service to do the same?  Have sent to a friends address in Thailand that does have good mail service?  Ask them to contact you via email or phone due unreliable mail service?

You can setup your True bills to come by email or you can check and pay the bills on their Iservice. You can register for it here: https://iservice.truecorp.co.th/?ln=en

Not sure about CAT but they may have a  similar service.

For your other mail perhaps getting a post office box would resolve the problem.

That is nice but the True download of fonts does not work and bill on Iservice is almost unreadable without.  Or have they fixed in last month?  Even in Bangkok with good mail service True bills are often late as they seem to change contractors/format almost monthly.

They have this statement in the billing emails now.

  • Electronics Bill has generated with special font which does not support by Google Chrome web browser and Acrobat Reader version 10. Please consider to open by other web browser or PDF viewer instead.

They do open with Adobe Reader DC though.

If using the Iservice site you can also download the bills. I don't pay much attention to the bills unless the amount is different since I pay all of them with Iservice using my debit card.

Almost as great as Immigration - the browser that 59% of the world uses is not supported!
