Buy a Chevy (or a Ford) in Thailand, will that affect US exports?

Probably not, as it's likely built in sunny Thailand.

After the article last week about the Australian Meat full of lumps of grissle , which was quite obvious it wasnt Aussie meat....Who knows where the hell products are made these days.

The concept of "buy American" is woefully outdated.  A Toyota built in the US is more American than a Ford.  Apple phones are assembled in China, Nike shoes in Vietnam, etc.  I don't worry about where something's made, it's the value.  Price, quality, that's all that matters anymore.

AFAIK Volvo is Chinese owned.

I like to buy British ...

Mini (German)

Range Rover (Indian)

Jaguar (also Indian)

MG (Chinese)

Lotus (Malaysian)

RR (German)

Etcetera ...

Never mind, I can still buy my 100% British HP (Houses of Parliament) sauce in Thailand - Oh bugger, it's now owned by Americans and made in the Netherlands.
