In- Line Water softener for a Washing machine

I have a problem with Towels etc. having been washed drying like a piece of cardboard! We are using well water.I am wondering if anyone has knowledge of an in- line water softener system, that can be installed just for the washing machine. So towels may come out of the machine, a little more fluffy!& softer! Name & Where can this be bought and approximate price please, would be useful. Thanks.
