Police in Koh Lipe said that a 29 year old female Chinese tourist died while snorkeling on Thursday.

The tourist was found floating off Bandaya Beach on the southern Thai island and was still wearing her snorkel.

She is believed to have suffered from cramp and drowned. There were no suspicious circumstances.

The victim who was not named in the Sanook story entered Thailand on Sunday and was due to leave on Friday.

She had been staying on the island with two friends, said Satun police.

The authorities said the family had already been informed.

I can only assume she was out alone, otherwise the story makes no sense.

if you can't swim then stay out of the water.

I couldn't imagine how someone could drown while snorkelling. An epileptic seizure I could see but a cramp?

Cramps are gone with stretching. Must be a hopeless swimmer.

RIP... Prayer for the family.
