Full Moon, Blood Moon, Lunar eclipse--happening now

Featured Replies

The subject says it all.  The moon is near full coverage now.  It's something you don't see every night.

Live long enough and you'll find that it's a non-event.  I went and looked at it.  Oh hum.  Seen it before.  Back into the house after spending some time playing with the dogs outside.

Hubby went out to see it about an hour ago once we determined it wasn't visible from our condo, which has great views to the west and north.  He probably found a good viewing spot that sells beer.

According to the BBC this is the first Super Blood Blue Moon in over 150 years.  You must be really old.

Blue moons look like any other full moon.  The term just means that it's the second full moon in a calendar month.

Blood Moon means it is a part of its orbit that brings it closer than average to the earth, resulting in a moon that looks bigger than usual.  Blue Moon just makes the final name cooler:  Super Blood Blue Moon.  I expect to hear of a band with that name someday soon.

Almost over now.  I think any eclipse is cool, but some people are more jaded.

"I believe a solar eclipse is a wonderful spiritual event, while a lunar eclipse is a cheap and tawdry affair."  Steve Martin

This was pretty spectacular! I've never witnessed a total eclipse of the moon from start to finish, under such perfectly clear skies, made even better by the fact that I could watch the entire show from my living room window! Thanks, God,  it was a great show!

The best place in the world to watch it was here on Guam;  Awesome!
