webfact Posted February 11, 2018 Posted February 11, 2018 Phimai Dam stops distributing water to farmers amid drought fears By The Nation File photo Located in Nakhon Ratchasima province, the dam yesterday decided to cut the water supply to farms out of concern that it might not have enough water for people’s consumption in the coming summer. At present, the dam has less than 2 million cubic metres of water in storage, less than half of its total capacity. Officials in charge of managing the dam said they had to keep the remaining water for waterworks. “We are complying with the government’s water-management plan. We need to prevent a drought crisis,” an official said on condition of anonymity. Source: http://www.nationmultimedia.com/detail/national/30338584 -- © Copyright The Nation 2018-02-12
