Jonah777
I've been blessed traveling to and staying at "world class resorts." I have to chuckle, every time a Thai official refers to Pattaya as a "World Class Restore Destination." One year staying in Jomtien Beach 10 years ago ...was enough to see what was coming. The cream rises to the top in Pattaya, no pun intended.

Add the in-your-face sex, in-the-open porn and sex toys for sale and you have a natural family repellent. I know lots of people back home that won't bring their families to Thailand. It's a shame really, because a family with kids probably outspends the guys in these incidents by a wide margin. Better hotels, days on the town shopping instead of shacked up nursing a hangover, more and better meals, souvenirs for the kids- all of them unsold because of Thailand's reputation. True, they may sell more beer and bar fines... But that's not how you maintain a popular resort, much less a world class resort. I know what you are saying - but there are a lot of places suitable for families. My friends in UK are mostly the same - they think Pattaya is Thailand. Those who have stayed with us here in the far north have gone home with a different opinion.....

You can be in prison for many days. You have to be extra polite, extra good, extra positive behavior...this is not your country!!!! BTW, I am a foreigner in Thailand! I hope the Thai government gets this message across to visitors. Next, I hope to see more presents of uniform police in the nightlife area. All they need to do is walk and be visible. This reminds all the people they are real and they are watching. It also gives the peaceful people assurance of a trouble free environment. It does not scare the good people to see police officers. Each bar needs a special emergency number that will get them immediate help...within minutes! Lastly, I would have a few non uniform police walking the area. Have them talking, listening, watching. This cost money but every business in the area should be willing to pay a little something for this protection. Even 100b per business per night would go a long way for protection. In fact, maybe the business association should collect this fee and 'pay' for protection. they can pay the police or hire outside help...best to have some police. Why should the 'businesses' have to pay extra for protection? presumably the businesses are paying tax which partially employ the RTP. So why do the businesses have to cough up more for the RTP to do their work?

Get Real
A new bunch of dorks in Pattaya made the headlines. Utterly stupid to travel to another country to fight with other tourists. Some people just ain´t equipped with the gene "shame". I have a next activity proposition for them to try before they go home. Why not try the all so popoular balcony jump. Then we never have to see theese mindless monkeys nomore.

No respectable Thai would want to live there other than those who want to make a bit of money. Its tourist attraction is people flocking there, particularly Chinese to see for themselves the most decadent sordid sex supermarket in the world. According to another Thai news outlet 4.79 million Thai and 2.54 million Chinese tourists visited Pattaya in 2016. What do you suppose the Thais go there for?
