ubergnome
We're looking for a bank with good merchant support, online banking and an online payment gateway for selling our product online. Khun Larry
Anyone have good experiences with any Thai banks? No one I know has had good experience with Thai Banks. I had a good time listening to the stories about people having bad experiences with Thai Banks, if that helps
ubergnome
Ha, ha. Yeah, that's about what I expected to hear. Well, I'll keep searching for options. If anyone has suggestions... feel free. Thanks, Larry.

BlissfullyIgnorant
If you're looking for a Thai bank with online merchant facilites, most of them have such sevices BUT: 1) You'll need a registered thai company with at least 2M baht registered capital 2) The company will need a minimum of 1 year trading history in Thailand. If you qualify under these conditions, contact the Bangkok bank or SCB - both offer online merchant facilities. If you don't, you'll have to do your CC processing via a 3rd party clearing house like www.2co.com, www.paypal.com, www.stormpay.com, www.ccnow.com, www.cybersource.com, www.firstdata.com, www.ibill.com etc etc.. If anyone has experience with any of these and can make a personal recomendation, I'd like to hear it. A slick website could be a front for a con-job. I know Pay Pal would be my worst case scenario as I've personally had terrible experiences with their service not only in Thailand but also in the US. The thing is just a bloody pain in the ass to use. Have heard good things about MultiCard. Anyone experienced with any of the others? Thanks, all. aqua4
www.2co.com = Good www.paypal.com = Gods curse to the earth www.stormpay.com = poor service www.ccnow.com expensive www.ibill.com CCNow and IBill are the only ones that will process cards for the porn industry - so it depends on your website and the amount of charge backs you get. ubergnome
I have looked at Worldpay, which looks solid but expensive. I've been looking for Mulitcard, but can't seem to find it. Someone told me they have good service and features. Anyone know where to find them? Geo, am in contact with asiadebit now. Thanks for the tip
asinah
If you have a real business and company I would suggest you to use SCB - That's the only one we used within Thailand and they did a good job. Contact the EVP Dr. Amarit at SCB or Khun Wanpen (could be wrong spelled) and they should get you started. Make sure you put a few hundred thousand Baht in the account and you should have no problems. A friend of my processed over a million Dollar per month with SCB and never had a problem with them and I just talked recently to him.
asinah
Or check with http://www.asiadebit.com located in Singapore with sales office in Phuket. george, i too heard about asiadebit.com but the infos I received weren't that great. They traded b4 under the name Payzip in Singapore but I know that the system seems to be working. What made me stuck a little bit is that they use a couple of fax numbers in the States and UK but no phone number. (Sounds like a fax forwarding service. A company that offers merchant account facilities and publishes a fax number in the Uk should also publish a phone number I guess) We are member with the Singapore Chamber so will dig around on Monday morning who owns the operation in Singapore
ubergnome
Re 3rd party gateways, I found mulitcards here: http://multicards.com/ in case anyone is interested in looking into them. I've heard of one merchant who preferred them over 2CO. If anyone has any experience with multicards, let me know. u

gaZ
Anybody with any experience of thaiepay.com? Do they only accept Thai citizens - their English pages only says ID card - nothing about passports. Also do they accept non-Thailand based merchants (I know you need a Thai bank account to receive the money). I live in Taiwan so it is a quick hop over for me. cutethaigirl
Think Thai banks will have prohibitive rules unless you have VERY VERY good standing with them. www.2checkout.com is fine. Set up in minutes and NOT fussy. Hold back a % and can telegraph the money to Thai accounts. Finding the code at the Thai bank will try your patience:-) paypal will not entertain addresses in Thailand. If the product to be sold is digital www.clickbank.com is popular. iKobo or ??? was getting some sharp comments at this forum!! It can be done for sure. CT Worldpay will scare you with the fees and rules for Thai addresses. i
camerata
Worldpay will scare you with the fees and rules for Thai addresses. What are the rules? My favorite site for cheap DVDs with free global delivery is www.cd-wow.com in the UK. They use Worldpay and I've had no problems with delivery to Thailand. Would the policy about Thai addresses depend on the vendor?
andariel
Is anyone else using ikobo? I mean I use it to receive money from the company I'm working for... they're in the US and I've never had problems with it. I mean the money has always arrived and all. I'm asking this because they also seem to have an offer for merchant accounts and I was thinking maybe I'd give a try for a little project of mine. As I understand it, they no longer accept new merchant accounts but I could be mistaken.

thaitanic
SCB wasted incredible amounts of my time and allowed me to open all sorts of stuff before finally telling me that I need to show 100,000 baht turnover per month through my account with them for 6 months before considering my application. Catch 22 because I can't do the business without the merchant account. Duh. The Patong branch of Kasikorn Bank, who I've had 3 accounts with for 3 years, told me I would probably have to hold a balance of 200,000 baht in an account as security. What a great country for doing business!

~G~
only one best value for money, the biggest and trustworty.2checkout.com i use it myself. no problems yet after one year. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> From 2checkout.com: There is a one time only set up fee of $49.00. After that, you only pay for sales. If you, sell nothing, you pay nothing. 2CO collects a 5.5% commission on each transaction plus a $0.45 charge per sale. 5.5% each transaction + $0.45.... Isn't it a bit expensive?

aurelius
I attended a seminar hosted by Microsoft (Thailand) week before. They have a full-function online store application that they are offering license-free (but there will be hosting fees due to an ISP somewhere), which has been pre-wired into Bangkok Bank's payment gateway. I believe there are also options to select which would give access to Paypal and some other widely used payment channels. BKK Bank was part of the presentation as well, and they were offering a reduced deposit collateral (50k) and a reasonably low merchant rate as well (about 3% if I recall correctly). The MS application was called NopCommerce - its apparently part of their CSR to help thai SMEs. So, if what you are selling needs a "store front" this might be a quick way to get up and running. Suggest that you google (or BING ) the NopCommerce thing or check MS or BBL's website. PM if you need more info
