How many members of this forum  ever post a new topic?

I think over 93% of all content on this forum is a result of the forum's feeding of topics from Webfact and etc.

Any member Ok to talk about this topic?

Not questioning moderation or rules.

Just asking a question..

In the past I recall one or more forums even delineating a members content between starting a topic and merely replying.

This forum is one of mostly replying.

I think it is exponentially higher than "most".

Do you think they are afraid to start new content/topics?

Maybe they just have no questions, some people see it as a weakness to ask other people's opinion or help. I have no idea. I found Thaivisa to be really helpful

The worse kind of post,is when the OP asks a ?,

then posts more than anyone else about it.

You may be correct regarding  your thoughts  about "weakness"  as to why there are so few TVF members  ever manage to post a new topic.

I wish more members would just speak out.   Post freely as long as it passes the censorship and rules pertaining to this forum.

I'd like to hear other let loose with topics.

Thanks for that, Worgeordie.

Question?

How many of all the thousands of posts you've made are ones starting a new TOPIC!

I'll bet less than 50.

Braindead?

Next?

I agree there is much information to be garnered from TFV.     I disagree about members not having having the grey matter to originate a topic.    Shy?

Fear of abuse may be part of that but then it becomes a function of moderation.       I prefer zero moderation on a forum,  personally.

It is, however,  what it is.

Wrong, but then I know where to buy milk, how to fix most things,

how to do a retirement extension, how to open bank account,

Mall opening times, where to buy ceramic glue, about Kodi apps,

how to make homemade spaghetti sauce, how to mail in 90 days

how much money needed to retire on in Thailand, so no need to ask,

but i like helping posters that don't know, sure I will ask if I need help

with something.

keep up the good work, regards Worgeordie

When your threads get 60,000 replies you don’t need to post many

I don’t know, I’ve posted more than a few new topics, and I doubt very much I’m that special.

With thousands of topics in the history and dozens (hundreds?) started each day by those whose job it is to post content to draw clicks and views, there really isn't a lot that's worth starting a new topic on.

Even on the new content, most topics have either been beaten to death and/or have degraded repeatedly into name calling contests, which is another reason I'm not inclined to post up a new topic unless there's something going on that I think is worth the pretty much inevitable irritation.

The specialist forums are generally more constructive

Good for you,

I guess you have all the answers then.    I always find  "regards Worgeordie" cute.

Good luck with your postings and please never start a new topic, which you heretofore have not done.

Sometimes they are.  But they'd be a lot more helpful if you didn't have one guy saying, yes- that's easy, and the next guy saying, nope- impossible, can't be done.  Or that guy who responds to a question about where to buy a part for a Toyota with "Toyotas suck- always have".  Or, "Does your Mom know you snuck out of the house?"

And I have found that I can usually get a lot more helpful info from Google or the TVF search function than I'll ever get with a new thread.

I was going to start a new topic  Why does Watchcharacters, leave so

much space between his sentences, the scrolling wheel on my mouse

is wearing out fast, but as you are already here,...........

regards Worgeordie

I start a few new topics, but mainly when I want some advice.
I usually try and answer any replies I get and “ reward “ the sensible ones with a like . Likewise I do post to add my experiences to other topics if relevant.

There does seem to be some topics where the OP will disappear and never answer or thank the replies. These topics tend to drift off topic and end up with 2 members arguing over something completely unrelated !!
Don’t get me wrong, these can be entertaining and some good fun can be had by just observing !! But frustrating for the OP if he asked where to buy celery and the topic ends up about Thai police corruption !!

I have posted from time to time.....

But - others clearly enjoy posting, just for the sake of posting....

No right or wrong, it takes all types to contribute....

I dont need to post and ask questiones.my wife knows everything.
Now where have i seen that before?

Have you tried posting about your detached observations in the medical sub-forum?

The problem being that the Thai celery market has been under the control of high ranking officers for some time.

I should know as I have lived here for 30 years, know Thai,Khmer,Swahili and Lilliputian and live in a 'uge mansion with a gorgeous hiso wife who loves me to death...

Is that the sort of digression that you may be referring to,Andrew?
