Astrologer ‘Ordered’ To Stop Predicting Gov’t Doom

Two crows peck at the corpse of a pigeon they killed Tuesday at Government House.

BANGKOK — First, it was the breaking of a “lucky” lotus basin. Then, cracks appeared in another flowerpot. Most recently, a pigeon was pecked to death by crows just after the junta leader denied believing in superstitious portents. All happened in a handful of days at the Government House, the military government’s seat of power.

Superstitious minds – and there are many in Thailand – have seen divine auguries, with national media transfixed by the latest alleged omen. And how are these signs being interpreted by those who believe? A well-known soothsayer and prolific commentator on metaphysical matters said he can no longer offer his take after being asked by a “powerful person” to stop.

Although key officials including deputy prime minister Wissanu Krea-ngam deny the regime believes in hocus-pocus, anonymous Government House figures have been quoted saying they are unnerved by the perceived portents.

The regime may not say they believe but doesnt K. Prayuth wear a ton of amulets around his necK?

A post containing an offensive and disallowed reference to the PM has been removed.

The ghost of the pidgin can not be silenced so easily. The PM should worry, if a red snake is found it will spell doom.

If everything else fails, you can always rely on this...  (oh ma lo ko koy)..

Except the superstition that kissing frogs can bring good luck to Thai farmers. Another day another lie.

If you could spare the time to read some of my previous posts, you would find that I am a "BS artist" (actually when I am dead I will be refered to as an "old master") and as such I object to being grouped in the same spectrum as the above individual.

Should you not remove your post, I will have no other option but to seek redress under the computer crime act. And additionally I may have to stamp my feet and ask for further support from Netizens. Whatever a Netizen is, but sound like they are bad buggers.....hmmmm.

Retract!

ugly on the front side of this as well as the backside

Thaksin put a lot of faith in fortune tellers, especially one of Japanese descent who lived in Chiang Mai.

Did him pretty well, no?

I guess we are all waiting for the classical head of a horse to be found one morning under the blanket. Then there is at least a clear sign that the soothsayers ans the metaphysicals is rising up as members of a powerful group.

It might be bulls...h...i..t but he has (should have) the right to say it. There never will be democratic rights as long as a junta is in power or pulling the strings.

As with all Juntas they cannot allow any form of criticism even from tea leaf reading druids. They really are struggling to contain themselves while putting on a democratic face for their bid in the much slated and...”continuously postponed general elections until we are sure we can win” “General” elections...rather apt name under the current government.

They should pay the astrologer a couple hundred BAHT to change his prediction to something a bit less doomie. Or just hire a government appointed astrologer to tell everyone that all is good.

The writing is on the wall; the Junta are finished - a dead pigeon will prove their downfall; no need for illegal demonstrations.

They have just got to find a couple of Water Monitor's running

about in the garden of Government House, and that will be it.

Astrologer should have seen this coming.....

Oh, all those amulets the PM wears are not his, they are on "loan". Big wigs may not believe, but...

"Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful." - Lucius Annaeus Seneca

Very soon he might die of some rare blood disease if he does not keep his mouth shut.

Only astrologers 'sympathetic' to current leadership to be believed. :coffee1:

Strange how good predictions are just fine, but bad ones are problematic.

we all expected nothing less, but what amazes me is that the Soothsayer is obeying this powerful person .

You could probably bet your house on it, all Thais are superstitious, most every race on earth has some form of superstition.

Yes, we westerners have to learn to understand Thai culture!
