Can I buy bulk prescription medication online in south east Asia

I have seen a similar question before, but nothing recently.

I have an estimate from my doctor, for a year's supply of the medication that I need.

It's 56,000 THB!!!

Does anyone know of any other options for buying bulk medication?

Cheers

First of all, need to consider what the medication is, because at that price it is likely an imported brand and the greatest savings is to be had by buying a locally made generic equivalent.

If that is not possible -- e.g. if there is no locally made equivalent, then the best price in Thailand will be had by buying directly from the distributor or manufacturer and for that as well I would need to know the name of the drug.

Hi Cheryl

Thanks for replying so quickly.

Here are the drugs I need daily:

Candesartan 8mg (Blopress in Thailand)

Escitalopram 20mg (Esidep)

Lamotrigine 200mg (Neumagine)

These are all generics and readily available in Thailand, but only Blopress over the counter.

1. Candesartan- besides Blopress other brands here are:

Finil - distributor is  Medline Tel: (+66) 2026 3138 email <[email protected]h)

Todesaar - distributor is T.O. chemicals tel.png Tel: (+66) 2275 6053 -9, (+66) 2277 4141, (+66) 2277 0187, (+66) 2693 1687 -94 email <[email protected]>

For Blopress brand the distributor is DKSH but theyare very hard to deal with by phone, might have to go in person.

2106 Sukhumvit Rd
Bangchak, Phrakhanong Bangkok 10260 Tel: (+66) 2220 9000 , 1364 (Call Center). email <[email protected]>

You can also likely get a good price on it from a wholesale pharmacy, where do you live?

2. Escitalopram can be bought OTC, just needs a large enough pharmacy with  real pharmacist ion duty. Esidep, while cheaper than lexapor, is actually an import (India). New local brand is called Esopam and distributor is Medline, contact info above.

3. Lamotrigine same story as escitalopram, an be bought over the counter.  The only local brand I know of is made by Unison and called Lamoga. They are based in Chachengsao, tel el: (+66) 2274 3036 -41
I have never heard of a brand called Neumagine.

If you are in Bangkok or can come there periodically you might try these pharmacies that sell generics at close to wholesale price:

  • Por Bor Pesat pharmacy on Sukhumvit 71, Klong Tan, at the intersection with Petchaburi/Pattanahkhan Rd's, even soi side, the very last storefront before the intersection.Lowest prices but as a result crowded, they use  a queue numbering system.  BTS to Phra Khanong, use Exit #3 then bus or taxi down soi 71 to the intersection with Petchaburi. Or take Airport Rail Link to Rhamkhamheng station from there it is a 10 minute walk.
  •  Roong Rote Pharmacy (รุ่งโรจน์เภสัช).Soi On-Nut (Sukhumvit Soi 77), away from Sukhumvit Road, about 40m on right side. Large stock of reasonably priced generics.
  • Wholesale pharmacy on Pradiprat Road, short distance from Huay Kwang BTS, and on the Pradiprat portion opposite Big C.  Walking from the main intersection, the pharmacy is located about 60 meters on the left.

This doesn't make sense, Pradiprat road finishes before Huai Khwang and theres a huai khwang MRT not BTS, Do you mean Saphan Khwai or?
