Visiting my GF in Rayong after 6 months of being away. I've noticed a significantly higher number of tourists in Rayong town since the last time I was in town.  I used to see maybe 2-3 Foreigners when I went to Rayong, usually older gentlemen. This time, I went to Laemthong 3 times and each time I noticed at least several groups of families ranging from 18 through to late 50s.

GF says this has been going on the last few months since the Holiday Inn opened Air Asia made Rayong town a destination.  Is that the reason?  Frankly it's confusing because Rayong really doesn't offer that much outside of a few pleasant night markets.

Holiday Inn is quite nice though considering it's obscure location. Decent food, nice rooftop bar.
