? so you’ve never heard of averaging numbers?

and... your probably right about the numbers of sex workers in LOS, but let me refer you to the OP,  rather than argue the toss ???

If you have better information, then by all means, share it

Just logic. 1m+ when you count up 20 cities. Other websites say up to 2m.

STs are a minority group now. Mass tourism reigns now.

Massage isnt sex with hookers.

Lmao..... I didn’t say “massage”.... I said “good massage”

surely your not so naive to believe that these rather therapuatic massages, which you pay money for, aren’t performed by “sex workers”

if you are... then ?????

Ah....it is spring again and the cold winter is behind us. The fertile press and forums  burst forth with green shoots of the same old chestnuts of last spring.

Summer approaches with Songkran and the annual thorny prostitution fruit becomes ripe for the usual blooming of familiar plagiarisms and platitudes by which people know all is well in the teeny weeny paradise and the cycle of life will continue regardless of military pruning and non existent pesticide reforms.

If they really wanted to stamp our sex tourism and prostitution they should just make it illegal.. oh wait they did that.

Ok maybe the Police should open brothels so they can make sure only legal things go on.. and no sex.. ok they do that already too.

Really it’s the dirty sexed up farangs fault as many of these places are just karaoke and massage establishments and they force the wicked money and sex tourism on them.

Although prostitution is illegal in Thailand, it is tolerated and brothels frequented by Thais and foreigners can be found in most major cities.

Love the spat t'wixt Thailand and Gambia over this and the mind can only boggle at what the Thai foreign ministry put in the letter of complaint to the Gambian consular office .. And Gambia don't want to be calling out them too much what with those new sub's Thailand have procured ..

prefect thai; in their speech: 'no sex here, we do not know what sex is' ;ask the pattaya mayor ( he is ultra special); the rest of the world is trying to find new measures for sex for a nothing-here-is honest-country like thailand

The irony is that the sex here is soooooo mediocre. It's widely available but the "hostesses" are lazy, uninspired and bored... ok better than nothing for those with zero sex life besides going to prostitues but i prefer good old boom boom with my partner ?

That is Very very true.  :)

There are two types of tourists that frequent Thailand:

1) Those who come for the crowded dirty beaches, rundown temples,  and unhygienic food.

2) Those who come for pleasures of the flesh.

Which would you guess to be the majority?

Your claims are false. Lots of nice uncrowded beaches. Try leaving Pattaya.

Lots of people go for hiking, scuba diving, shopping, relaxing.

And finding some clean food isn't difficult.

When people engage in super negative talk it says more about them then the topic.

I am disillusioned. I always thought it was the over-sexed westerners causing all this disgrace to Thailand. Now I'm informed that we are only 10% of the problem; if that!!

When I had my first massage in Pattaya, the lady said that if I wanted a 'happy ending' she would call her mate up from downstairs. I didn't know what she was talking about. But the massage made me feel good. When I came out I felt like an 18 year old; so I went down the beach and got one. She turned out to be a ladyboy. When I found out I gave him 100 baht for a bike-ride back to the beach.

I thought I'd have to be more careful. There were 100s of ladies to choose from. I went down soi Chaipoom and met the wife. Dear, dear, dear!!!

They are muslim countries with lots of problems. Malaysia has a lot of crime and the people are boring.

Some parts of Borneo are christian and Bali is Hindu.

They have delicious food and use much more herbs than the thai kitchen. They also don't need msg to get real full flavor and even know how to cook proper steak/satay.

Also their dishes always get a lot of sidedishes to make it a real party.

You can go to any foodcourt in Singapore to try it but the best are the Indo/malay restaurants overthere. Now my wife also is learning how to cook indonesian.

The Borobodur is not free to visit iirc, they need money to rebuild the complex but again Thailand has nothing of that scale.

They do have very annoying street/beach vendors though but i have been in resorts with 5 pools which were a big farangparty around the pools at night with nice launchmusic, all guests swimming/drinking/eating/relaxing outside around the pools.

I also i haven't seen dual pricing there but taxi's won't use the meter neither and the police also demands bribes from the drivers.

Malaysian Borneo has lots of religious tension and Bali had terrorist attacks. It is also riddled with corruption and beaches are poor quality.

Malaysia curries are available around the world and Indo food isn't that good and not popular.

When they either close down or 'strip' them of their entertainment licenses in Patpong, Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy I will believe them.

Those places, like Walking Street in Pattaya and the big soapies, are already regulated and most stick to the rules. Those that don't are usually raided. It's the more visible solicitation on the streets that is illegal and is giving sex tourism a bad name...

15 years ago, male tourists outnumbered female by 2 to 1.  I did a quick google, but couldn't find any current statistics of tourist arrivals by gender.  If that figure has dropped to 1 to 1, then sex tourism is dying.

My guess is that males still outnumber females in a significant way. Maybe not 2:1 anymore, but around 1.5 to 1. Just a wild guess :)

World famous for Temples! Beaches! Cuisine!    Really?!

All my mates go to Thailand for sex!

Why is it, so many Thais suffer from stomach complaints? A recent report, by a Thai specialist, stated that some Thai food is, in his opinion, the cause of slow death from stomach cancer!

What about Corruption? Fraud? Unjust treatment toward foreigners? Racism?  Slavary? Human and animal rights issues, as with the recent and shameful report concerning the Black panther! Freedom of speech? Dictatorship? Gender plus Age discrimination as well as the lack of support given to those poor individuals suffering form mobility issues, to name just a few areas of concern?

Thailand is probably better known, and popular to visitors for, its World renowned reputation for the SEX industry, which has been allowed to continue  to grow for decades by the authorises, simply because it brings in trade.

Parents forcing their daughters to sell their bodies as do the boyfriend or husband, allowing their female partner to sell their body.

The scams! Double standard pricing for foreigners and so on, which most long-term expats, (not those individuals fresh off the boat, or on short holiday breaks), will know exactly what I'm aiming at.

Thailand is also politically (and religiously) placed, geographically and logisticallly, within an area of Asia for other powers to take advantage of, and so more accessible to tourists.

Temples. Beaches. Good food. Sun shine. Beautiful women etc can all be found in many more respectful parts of the world.

Thai corruption, which makes getting what a person desires more accessible, as appossed to other countries that respect their culture far more, make the temptation greater for those seeking their thrills and continues to feed the sex industry which is supoosily illegally, as is not wearing a crash helmet, or more than two persons on one motor bike,  or six  people on the flat bed of a pickup, and so on....

Take a look at the up and coming countries that boarder Thailand, and what they have to offer. Look close enough, you maybe pleasantly surprised? It comes as no surprise, so many expats, that used to live in Thailand, have jumped ship!

Blowing that small trumpet, yet again.

All of those negative comments apply to countries next door.

"All my mates go to Thailand for sex! "

That says more about them than anything else.

Behaviour is up to oneself.
