Hi all, I’m currently on a visa exempt stay in Bangkok. Going for a extension for 30 days at chaeng wattana. After which I would like to continue my stay in thailand ( bkk ). I have a thai child and my name is on her birth cert. But I’m not married. Can I get Non O visa at savannakhet? And what other options do I have to get visa / extensions based on thai child ? Thanks in advance.

Instead of 30 days extension, you can get 60 days for visiting your child.

For longer stay you will have legitimate  your child.

Read this topic.

Please correct me if wrong but I found some info on this today.

You may be able to get a 60 day extension as you have a child.

After that you can head to laos and get a 90 day non o and you can then extend that by a further 60.

I got mine in vientiane it was very easy and straight forward.

You could extend your visa exempt entry by 30 days as a tourist, or by 60 days as a parent. You would need the original birth certificate, and take your daughter with you, to apply for 60 days.

You can get a single entry non-immigrant ‘O’ visa from Savannakhet with the original birth certificate. Your daughter doesn’t need to be with you.

You can only get a 1 year extension of stay at immigration, as a parent, if you are the legal parent. Being named on the birth certificate isn’t enough.

Thanks for replying. U got a Non O visa 90days based on Thai child at Vientiane ?

What are the documents needed for this visa at Vientiane ? After extension by a further 60days , could I go back Vientiane to repeat the Non O visa again?

Thanks for the reply. How much is the extension for 60 days? And is the form used the same as the normal extension ?

So I can get a single entry Non O visa ( 90days) based on Thai child at savannakhet ? Can I repeat and return for this visa the next time round ? Is there a limit to such visa ?

With funds of 400k , would there be any other alternative where I do not need to exit the county constantly and get a extension/visa for 1 year or something ?

Yes. Child only, not married.

Took

Birth certificate of child + copies

Copy of child's tabien bahn page

Copy of my Mrs ID with her written signature

My yellow tables bahn

Application

2 photos passport size white background.

Pretty sure I did not need some of the above docs. BC was important and child's tabien bahn page.

No proof of funds were needed.

I have only been there once. Going again in 3 months. Vientiane seemed really easy.

All extensions of stay, whether 60 days or 1 year, cost 1,900 baht.

There is no published limit to the number of Non 'O' (parent) visas you can get. They are issued at the discretion of each Embassy/Consulate.

No. The only way you can stay in the country without leaving is with a 1 year extension of stay that you can renew each year. You should get yourself legalised as a parent even if you don't apply for an extension. It's in the best interests of you and your daughter. Once you are an extension is, usually, straightforward.

You could spend 500K on a Thailand Elite Privilege Entry Visa. That would allow you to stay in the country for 5 years without leaving. You'll be granted permission to stay for 1 year on entry, which can be extended until the end of 5 years for 1,900 baht.

I went through the court process and have a letter from the court saying I am the legal father however I am having difficulty getting the mother to co operate and register the document at the amphur to finalize the process. Is the court letter itself enough for Immigration to get a 1 year extension based on having a child here?

Hi Kenny

Sorry to hear of the issues with the court document. I would be very interested to learn the process/costs for this?

The court? Was it the local court where child was born?

The process? Was it a 1 day process or multiple?

The age of child when you did it?

The cost for this process?

Just an update

I went immigration office this morning with my baby girl for extension of 60days.

Got there early ard 7am, got a Q number 110, proceed in and went to “K” section for visa exempt extensions.

Luckily i brought my condo documents as they wanted it. As my baby girl is registered under the mum’s house at another province. Paid 1900baht and was out by 9:10am.

My next question is , after the 60 days extension, I could either go for a land border for a visa exempt stamp for 30days,extendable for another 60days based on child , or I could head to Vientiane or savannakhet (both) to apply for a single entry Non O visa for 90days?

Do i I need any funds requirement , or any extra documents for the single entry Non O visa for 90days?  Thanks in advance.

Yes you can apply for the single entry non-o visa.

You will need your child's birth certificate plus a copy and a copy of their house book registry.

Thank you for your reply. Do I need copy of my child’s mum ID & house book registry or copy of my house lease/rent etc

i was asked for my condo agreement rental copy as well as a copy of the owner’s ID signed for the extension at chaeng wattana so end up I only extend 1 month instead of 2. She insisted on those though.

Oic , the previous replies did not state I need those. So end up I was not able to extend 2 months. So I like to confirm the documents I need at Vientiane so I won’t have to make a wasted trip. Will the lease contract be needed for the Non O visa based on thai child be needed at the Vientiane thai embassy anyway ? Thanks

Im currently on my Non O single entry visa based on thai child. I would like to extend for 60 days at chaeng wattana soon. May I know the form needed to fill is the same as the usual tourist visa/visa exempt 30 days extension form ? Or another ?

And which section ( previously J/K based on tourist visa and visa exempt extensions ) would I have to wait this round?

And what are the documents I need to produce for the 60 days extension based on thai child ? Thanks in advance.

You will use the standard TM7 form used for all extension of stay applications.

Not aware of which section it will be but it will not be the same as the one for 30 day extensions.

Your child will need to be with your when you apply for the 60 day extension to visit them.

You will need their birth certificate plus a copy and a copy of their house book registry,

You will need proof of your address in Bangkok such as a rental agreement with signed copies of the owners house book and ID card attached.

So after I will apply Non-0 90 days in Laos. I can extend every 60 days in Thailand my Non-0 Visa?

How long forever?

You can extend each 90 day entry from the non-o visa for 60 days. Then you will have to apply for a new visa.

Not sure about forever but many people have done it for a long time.

No. Every 90 day entry can be extended once by 60 days. After 150 days you must leave the country unless you then extend for 1 year.

Currently residing in Thailand on a Retirement Extension. Can I move to an extension based on having a 12 year old dependent as opposed to moving to an extension based on marriage?

If so, what documentation is required by Immigration?

Yes you can change to a family based extension, but why do you want to apply as a parent and not a spouse?

Married in UK not Thailand. Amphur want Embassy affirmation that I can marry. BE won't provide this as I am already married (to the same person!!). They only deal with single/divorced/widowers.

As I understand it (confirmed by BE) I would have to go through apostilles/legalisation/Thai Embassy(London) and Ministry of Foreign affairs to get the UK marriage cert authorised and translated.

If I apply as a parent, I imagine it will be far less hassle. Anybody been down this route?
