Pet Cat Fights Off King Cobra In Trang

The 5-meter cobra that attacked Wirot Kiewkong’s cat Tuesday in Trang.

 

TRANG — A rubber farmer was showering Tuesday morning when he heard a loud noise in his yard.

 

Thinking he had a peeping tom, 25-year-old Wirot Kiewkong rushed outside and followed the sound to his old Nissan. He shone a flashlight and “went into shock” at the sight of his beloved cat in mortal combat with a king cobra.

Holy crap!!

I am struggling to understand how the cat did not get bitten and if it did how it survived?

A cat's reflexes are (usually) fast enough to avoid any striking snake.

And only about 50% of bites result in envenomation anyway.

A magnificent specimen.

Because, ya' know, a lot of peeping toms hang out around the rubber farmer's house in the wee hours of the morning. 

 

Cobras don't "bear their fangs". 

 

Impressive snake and photos.  So pleased it didn't meet the same fate as others after their first, and last, encounter with humans.
