Garbage..... Where did I say I got bashed about as a kid?  I never hit my kids and they have grown into well adjusted adults unlike some of the posters on here who twist the meaning of other people's posts to suit their own agenda.

Poor performance old chap.  Shame on you.

So why would you advocate  "A bit of a belting"?

Shame nothing, shame on you or anyone that thinks beating children is OK regardless of what they have done.  Beating guilty adults that deserve it for heinous crimes (apart from the death penalty of course which is another matter entirely) is no longer allowed in any decent country so why would beating defenceless kids be OK?  Were they starving and needed some dosh for food?  Were they under the orders of their parents? Were they even guilty?

But you don't know the background to any of this, do you? Well maybe you know a lot more about it than I do.

So, you disagree with that it´s the parents responsibilty to raise children to not do things like that? If that is the case, then I finally know why the world looks like it does.

Vigilante violence such as this is unacceptable.

To treat children this way is something only scum are capable of.

Are you a teacher here in thailand?

Yes!

Not that it matters.

Vigilante violence is unacceptable anywhere.

So is assaulting children.

Stealing from a church or wat is about as low as you can go as a common thief.

Spare  the rod spoil the child.

And the real thieves who steal from the Thai people and bully them ... subtly... into contributing money they have not got to spare are... ?

How do you get vigilante justice form this?  Monks ?

How do you get assaulting children from this? A spanking by the looks of it.

What is called a flogging looks pretty tame to me. from the one picture I can see. We used to get worse than that for throwing snowballs.

Guys like you are one of the main reasons there is so many problems in the world with crime. Any form of discipline is not acceptable to guys like you . Discipline is necessary to maintain order with out it we have anarchy. The passive alternatives are producing nothing. but more problems.

Some people here are real drama queens.

Tying children to a tree and beating them is both vigilantism and assault.

Violence is not discipline.

It is beyond contempt to do what these vigilantes did.

What about the monks that steal from the temple?which of course is indirectly stealing from the people.Monks with expensive phones and WATCHES,but regarding the WATCHES alter all they could have been loaned to them from a good friend,EVEN if that friend is already dead? Then we have the MONKS that have expensive cars and SUVS,again could have been loaned,or just parked at the temple for use later. Then of course we have ,or had,the monk with the jet,to carry the daily deposit to the bank and then to the USA,still we do not hear anymore about this one, perhaps he is related to the RED BULL BOSS,in that case he is off the RADAR.Nearly forgot,WE LIVE IN THAILAND.

Didn't see the video but was this a beating or a few whacks with the stick?  It's no wonder most societies are in the sad shape they are as one need go no further than to see the reaction of most of the posters and their stand against the corporal punishment.  When I was in school and a person got into trouble, they had a choice of getting a swat with a paddle or having the Vice Principal call their parents. Guess what most students thought was the lessor of the two choices? Public humiliation and a few whacks with a stick will surely make those kids think twice before stealing again.

Villagers rally against a couple for allegedly torturing two boys accused of theft

By Thai PBS

About 60 residents of a village in Chon Buri’s Phanat Nikhom district rallied at a temple in their community to protest against a couple who allegedly beat up two Hmong boys and tied them up to a big tree on temple’s ground to set an example to other children in the village that they should not steal from the others.

The protest followed a social media post in Facebook page of Mam Pho Dum showing two boys being tied to a tree with a caption explain that the boys were punished for stealing 200 baht from a couple.

The author of the post said he intervened telling the couple to stop beating the two boys and they obeyed him.

Creation of appropriate and just laws, and appropriate and fair punishments

- Investigation by a vehicle which comes from the foundations laid in the constitution of Thailand (the RTP), same in any country.  And investigation only by the appropriate vehicle unless there is mass focused pressure from society.

- Decisions regarding guilt or otherwise by a proper court and only by the court.

And if all that doesn't work, give the thieving little shtxts a sound thrashing!

If the kids had stolen money from a house in the next

village, no one would care, what so ever.

The parents would also try and make out it never happened.

it's only an issue because it' was a temple.

and also because people lost face in public.  :bah:

Deep down this is zero about right and wrong and justice.

It's all about little broken face syndrome.

Anyway,  They should have got a belt round the head when they got home.

And now those 2 poor boys have been removed from their parents and sent to a detention center. Which are the learning centers for prisons.

Which would people rather?

A smack on the bum or a detention center.

That rotten person that posted this has ruined those boys lives.

Discipline may be necessary to maintain law and order but who has the authority to impose that discipline? Sure, back in the 20th century corporal punishment was used by people [parents, principals, even some teachers] who had the authority to do it. However, who are this man and woman who decided to punish these children? What is their right to do so? Parents? Then the appropriate place for punishment is at home! Not parents? Then this is a simple case of assault.

It's people like you that are the reason some kids think they can do anything, without consequence.

Snowflake.

If you think a good whack is the only form of punishment available then you need one.  Happy to oblige.

This is the real world, not some socialist eutopia.

Do you also teach your child all that wonderful name calling?  It's SO age appropriate!
